  Perform general cleaning and maintenance to provide pleasant and safe surroundings for staff and students.
 
1. Cleans, scrubs, waxes, or sweeps and mops floors in rooms and halls, stairs, and restrooms. Sanitizes washroom fixtures.  Fills dispensers, gathers and disposes of refuse.
 
2. Empties garbage cans, vacuums classrooms, cleans desks, tables and rugs.
 
3. Participates in all other building cleaning activities including but not limited to dusting all cabinets and cases, cleaning all glass partitions and windows, and removing all vandalism marks from building or equipment.
 
4. Repairs chairs and desks, replaces lights and chair glides.
 
5. Assists in hanging equipment or items as needed.
 
6. Performs maintenance, carpentry, plumbing, heating, and electrical not requiring an outside contractor.
 
7. Strips, waxes, and seals floors.
 
8. Assists as necessary with Food Service.
 
9. Conducts ground maintenance including mowing, snow removal, painting, raking, or other similar tasks.
 
10. Locks and unlocks doors prior to start and closing of school as directed.
 
11. Sets up for sporting events, concerts or other meetings or special events including but not limited to setting up bleachers, benches, and other equipment, cleaning wrestling mats and sporting equipment, stripping of play areas, grading of ball fields, and clean up. Checks to ensure that buildings are heated, cleaned, locked and unlocked in readiness for all activities, classes, sporting events, concerts, meetings, or special events.
 
12. Repairs sporting equipment.
 
13. Performs daily and weekend building and equipment checks.
 
14. Operates tractor and equipment to cut and fertilize lawns and playing fields.
 
15. Performs light maintenance on tractor and all other equipment used in the grounds work.
 
16. Consults head custodian regarding unusual maintenance problems and makes recommendations concerning the purchase of supplies, materials, and equipment.
 
Other duties as assigned.
