Position Summary: IVCC is seeking an enthusiastic and flexible person to teach a minimum of 15 semester credit hours per fall and spring semesters, maintain office hours, and assess student learning outcomes in Welding, Metal Fabrication, and Metallurgy. As Welding Instructor, you will develop and promote welding curriculum designed both as transfer courses to four-year colleges/universities, and applied degree programs, serve on various college committees as needed, and work with occupational employer advisory committees to assure program effectiveness. In collaboration with colleagues, be responsible for ongoing curriculum evaluation and improvement within the context of IVCC’s general education philosophy and facilitate student learning outside of the classroom through participation in student activities, college, and community events. Possibility of multiple teaching modalities and locations associated with the institution.
Qualifications: Associate’s degree in industrial welding/manufacturing/technology with coursework in welding and/or manufacturing from an accredited college/university or an equivalent standardized certification in welding required; 2,000 plus hours of proven work experience required; must possess a demonstrated knowledge and competence of Stick, MIG, TIG, OAW - Welding & Cutting. Knowledge of advanced welding materials and practices; teaching experience at the college level in welding and/or manufacturing preferred. Demonstrated commitment to the mission of the comprehensive community college. Must have OR in the process of attaining an AWS CWI Certification (a time limit of one to one & a half years to attain after being hired). Due to IVCC being an Accredited Testing Facility (ATF).
Working Conditions: Duties are performed in the usual classroom and lab environment
