Date Posted: June 18, 2024 Position Title: Counselor, Special Education Assignment Location: Alliance Education Center in Rosemount, MN supporting the Students with Unique Needs (SUN) Program Hours per Day: 8.0 Schedule: 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, following the assigned school calendar Anticipated Start Date: August 20, 2024 Contract Length: 2024-2025 school year, continuing contract Salary: Per the teacher/licensed staff contract POSITION OVERVIEW: The special School Counselor in Intermediate School District 917’s Special Education programs plays a vital role in providing services to students in various settings to improve social skills, emotional regulation, and other individulaized needs. He or she will ocollabroate with other multidiscipinary professaionsl to gather and analyze data to determine sociological needs of students, assure that students are enrolled in and attend an educational program, prepare and maintain student and program records, and perform related work as apparent or assigned. Professionalism, empathy, and a non-judgmental approach are essential when working with students receiving special education services to ensure their safety and growth and in order to help them understand and exhibit appropriate behaviors at school and in the community. The School Counselor working in special educaiton programs will function within a team environment daily, where collaboration, communication, and adaptability are key to the success of the individual, the team, and the students. This role is performed following District policy and State/Federal Laws under the moderate supervision of the Director of Social/Emotional Learning & Support.
