Indian Prairie School District 204, located in Naperville and Aurora, Illinois, is seeking an outstanding educational leader at the Crouse Education Center who will help us achieve our mission of inspiring all students to achieve their greatest potential. This is a full-time, 12 month position that will begin on July 1, 2025.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assists in formulation, direction and participation in development and implementation of objectives, policies and procedures for students with special needs.
- Serve as the District’s 504 Coordinator providing staff education programs and answering staff and public questions regarding 504 guidelines.
- Assist in resolving parent and staff issues regarding 504 guidelines or special education programs.
- Plan, develop, and present training programs on 504 and special education program and service delivery for professional development.
- Oversee the Proportionate Share process and coordinate Individual Service Plans (ISP) within the district.
- Participate in budget development and staffing projections discussions.
- Share responsibility to manage employees engaged in special education delivery. Hire and train employees, assign, review and check work, eliminate ordinary difficulties, enforce organizational policies, establish performance standards, and evaluate employee performance.
- Collaborate with all directors to integrate training and service delivery while building teacher capacity.
- Supervise and evaluate Assistant Directors and District Support Team members.
- Oversee and coordinate related services and special education programs.
- Facilitate problem-solving and conflict resolution strategies within schools to ensure efficient and harmonious educational environment.
- Lead research, recommend and oversee the use of diagnostic tools for the District.
- Oversee and organize ESY programming.
- Review, interpret and synthesize assessment and research data to design and plan school improvements.
- Facilitate various District-wide committees or initiatives and ensuring the implementation of action plans.
Perform other duties as assigned.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding special education, students, and staff, including Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, IDEA, and FERPA.
- Thorough knowledge of interventions, materials, resources, and practices related to social-emotional learning, positive behavior supports and educational best practices and instruction and behavior.
- Demonstrated competence in leadership, management, interpersonal relations and communications.
- Ability to work collaboratively with school and district personnel.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective organizational and community relationships.
- Capacity to effectively and efficiently organize and prioritize information, develop short and long range plans that are appropriately comprehensive, realistic, and effective in meeting special education program goals; and integrate planning efforts across special education areas.
- Ability to maintain and instill high standards of ethics and integrity.
- Ability to prepare oral or written communications for distribution to employees, students and parents.
- Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to leadership, performance and professional growth.
- Ability to plan and implement professional development for administrators and teaching staff.
- Ability to anticipate and address problems that may arise in a resourceful and consistent manner.
- Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed.

EDUCATION, LICENSURE, QUALIFICATIONS PROFILE:
Illinois Professional Educator License with General Administrative or Director of Special Education endorsements required
Solid understanding of special education legal requirements and processes required Prior successful special education administrative experience preferred
EQUIPMENT: Use standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copier and fax machines and telephone.
