SECTION II: JOB SUMMARY
The Data Integration Architect is a participant in ourdata team with a mission to provide Hopkins Schools with instructional and operational systems that are smart, reliable, accurate, efficient and seamlessly connected. The Data Integration Architect supports the flow of information from our core “systems of truth” (Student Information System, Enterprise Resource Planning, Identity Management, Single Sign-On, etc) to our instructional delivery platform, approved third-party applications, and data reporting system. This role serves as a member of the Technology & Information Services Department, partners with the District Data Team (Data Scientist, Business Data Analyst, Student Information System Specialist) and collaborates with other technical staff and instructional leaders to deliver our users a World-Class experience whenever they interact with Hopkins technology systems and devices.
SECTION III: ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Statement of duty/responsibility: Data Systems Architecture, Integration and Development.

Tasks involved in fulfilling above duty/responsibility:
Lead district data integrations with various systems that are utilized for educational and administrative purposes.
Develop, Implement, and maintain highly available, efficient, secure, and documented data systems and processes.
Implement processes and logic to extract, transform, and distribute data across one or more data stores from a wide variety of sources for display in district business intelligence suite (Tableau).
Coordinate and work with other technical staff to develop relational databases and secondary databases when necessary in a secure, performant manner.
Develop automated database applications utilizing modern data handling practices, where necessary, using the applicable database packages.
Develop district data integration standards as well as best practices.
Work with district data team to develop and uphold data governance practices that align with the district data vision
Coordinate with instructional teams to design software integrations for third party systems
Manage data system integration projects and ensure that they meet established user requirements and goals
Collaborate with third parties to identify the features in their product that might be of value to the district
Work cooperatively with building and instructional leaders to enhance the curriculum and user experience through application and systems integration
Facilitate staff, student, and family access to appropriate components of the Hopkins Learning Platform while enhancing data security.
Perform data extracts as required for data integration to support additional district and third party systems.

Contribute to the documentation and revision of system related Knowledge Base articles.
As a member of our small IT team there are times when you may need to “Roll up your sleeves” and pitch in with all IT operations and support.
Perform any other duties as assigned by supervisor.
SECTION IV: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge
Knowledge and experience with K-12 education database systems.
Advanced knowledge of identity management and/or database systems.
Experience working with several database types including MS-SQL & MySQL Server preferred.
The ability to write highly optimized SQL code, queries, and translation elements.
Highly proficient with preparing data for Tableau visualization system.
Thorough understanding of IMS Global LTI & OneRoster standards.
Experience working with various API’s, including SOAP, XML-RPC, JSON-RPC, and REST.
Demonstrated ability to work independently without direct supervision in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated experience managing multiple, parallel, and critical projects.
Demonstrated ability to effectively schedule and manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Knowledge of security best practices when working with all Enterprise technology solutions.
Highly proficient with Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets with advanced functionality.

SECTION V: EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Advanced certifications related to job requirements (eg. MS SQL Certification, Tableau or related BI tool, data security) are highly valued.
Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
SECTION VI: EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
At least 2 years experience with application provisioning and data interoperability, preferably in an educational setting.
Experience extracting data and ETL processes.
Experience with Microsoft SQL queries and database functionality.
Experience with data analytics & visualization suite (e.g. Tableau, PowerBI, Data Studio) highly desired.
Experience with Google G-Suite for Education preferred.
Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel.
