Immediate openings for Substitute Custodians 
 
At Helena Public Schools, our vision is to foster dynamic educational experiences that prepare all students for life. As a Substitute Custodian you contribute to this mission by filling in for sick and vacation leave absences and assisting with keeping the District's buildings in such a state of operating excellence that they present no problems or interuptions to the educational program. You will work as part of a team of 70+ serving 8,000 students over 17 campuses across Helena.  These positions have flexible work days and work hours.  We are willing to accomodate interested individuals by offering 4, 6 or 8 hour shifts.

Some of what you will do:
• Assists in maintaining seasonal grounds work (snow) etc.
• Cleans and preserves designated spaces, equipment etc. in the building.
• Performs ongoing preventative maintenance and minor repair on plumbing, custodial equipment, building structure and hardware.
• Performs light maintenance as needed.
• Assists the visiting public utilizing school facilities with directions within the building and in obtaining and setting up needed equipment and/or materials.
• Maintains building and grounds security by closing the building each school day and during special events,
To become part of this dedicated team, you need:
• High school diploma or equivalent;
• Up to three (3) months of related experience and/or training;
• Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience as determined by the District. 
Essential functions of the position include the ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds such as cleaning suppllies, pails and unloading trucks.  Occasionaly the empoyee will lift and/or move up to 1000 pounds such as bulk furniture with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Salary is $14.15 per hour.  Successful applicants may be employed up to 40 hours per week.

Openings for Summer Grounds Crew
 
The Helena Public Schools is accepting applications for Summer Grounds Crew positions.  Duties include but are not limited to: Operating a variety of equipment and power tools, performing labor under supervision to contribute to the development and maintenance of Helena Public School grounds; responsible for maintenance of district properties, facilities and equipment; Assists in the maintenance and repair of the district grounds through the following activities including but not limited to: planting, mowing, watering, weeding, trash collection, sign installation/replacement, and a variety of related tasks.  The positions operate district vehicles, equipment, and a variety of hand and small power tools as required to support centralized maintenance grounds operations.  Performs cleaning/maintenance of district facilities.  Performs sports field maintenance by fertilizing, weed spraying, grass seeding, dragging and leveling infields, and watering.  Prior experience with automated sprikler systems is desire but not required.   

To become part of this dedicated team, you need:
• At least sixteen (16) years of age.
• Up to three (3) months of related experience and/or training;

Earn $130 - $140 per day depending on certification.  Long Term assignments may be put under teacher contract with the appropriate credentials.

Helena School District # 1 has openings for a School Aged Child Care (SACC) Para Educator.      
 
At Helena Public Schools, our vision is to foster dynamic educational experiences that prepare all students for life. As a SACC Para Educator, you contribute to this mission by assisting the SACC Site Manager in the overall operations of the daily program activities.  You will work as part of a team of 40 serving 125 students on 11 campuses across Helena.

Some of what you will do:
 
• Provide careful and effective supervision of children’s activities as assigned by the site manager. Circulate among children, redirecting individuals into positive play and by pointing out alternative activities.
• Assist children in maintaining standards of appropriate behavior and health habits established for the program by using non-punitive disciplinary methods and positive reinforcement strategies as demonstrated by the site manager (refer to Assertive Discipline Guidelines).
• Cooperate with other program staff to create and maintain a harmonious and efficient environment.
• Interact positively with parents and refers appropriate questions and concerns to site manager, including but not limited to: payment, scheduling and discipline questions. 
• Perform clerical (attendance sheets) and housekeeping duties as assigned including but not limited to: snack preparation and clean up, project preparation and clean up.
• Oversee the appropriate use and storage of equipment and materials.
• Provide support in planned activities such as field trips, visiting resource persons, etc.
• Maintain a safe and orderly program environment.

To become part of this dedicated team, you need:
• High school diploma or equivalent;
• Experience as a licensed or registered group or family day care provider or day care center staff preferred.
• An age qualification may exist for licensure. 

The successful candidate should have the ability to successfully work with children K- 5.  Successful applicant must possess the ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds with or without reasonable accomodation.  

Entry level salary range is $14.80 to $18.33 per hour depending on education level and applicable relevant work experience and includes a generous pro-rated benefit package.
