    Migrant Supplemental Service Provider

     
    Qualifications:
    • High school graduate or GED with 2 years college or passing score on State Parapro Test
    • Dependable vehicle, current Georgia driver’s license, and proof of insurance
    • Honest, motivated, hard worker who can work with little direct supervision
    • Willing to do home and community outreach
    • Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) preferred in systems where applicable
    • Knowledgeable of service agencies in the area, or willing to learn
    • Good “people” skills, including communication (written and oral)
     
    Duties and Responsibilities:
     
    • Assists School in the education of migrant children by:
     
    1. Providing academic and other assistance beyond that available in the school to migrant students as needed.
    2. Promoting an awareness of the unique educational needs of migrant children.
    3.  Interpreting and disseminating migrant reports for school level personnel.
    4. Interpreting the Migrant Education Program and available services to parents and school personnel.
    5. Referring migrant students to school counselor and community agencies for health and social services as necessary.
     
    • Involves families in the education of their children and encourages the family to participate in parent education activities.
     
    • Identifies and recruits eligible migrant families residing in the assigned area.
    a)  Makes home visits.
          b)  Conducts confidential interviews to determine eligibility.
    c)  Completes Data Entry Form completely, accurately, and legibly.
     
    • Attends and participates in appropriate workshops and in-service training.
     
    • Performs other duties as assigned by the LEA contact person or principal as allowed by MEA.
     
    • Report to school principals
