Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate student coach to help run and monitor our alternative high school program. This position is critical in ensuring students' success in a flexible and supportive learning environment.  The ideal candidate will have a passion for supporting diverse student needs, building strong positive relationships, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of educators, counselors, administrators, outside agencies, and families.
Essential Responsibilities:
NOTE: The responsibilities below are not ranked in order of importance.
• Monitor and Support Online and Credit Recovery Courses: Assist in the administration and oversight of online courses and credit recovery programs. Provide technical assistance and guidance to students to ensure they remain engaged, meet deadlines, and successfully complete their coursework.
 
• Foster Positive Student Relationships: Build strong, trusting, and supportive relationships with students. Act as a mentor and advocate, offering consistent encouragement and guidance as students navigate their academic journey. 
• Collaboration with Team Members: Work closely with teachers, counselors, administrators, and outside agencies to support the academic and emotional needs of students. Participate in team meetings, contribute insights, and ensure effective communication.
• Family Engagement: Serve as a liaison between the school and students' families, ensuring that families are informed and involved in their child’s progress. Provide support to families as they navigate the credit recovery process and address any concerns.
• Professional Development: Participate in relevant training sessions and workshops to enhance skills in online learning platforms, trauma informed care, academic support strategies, and supporting students with diverse needs.
• Confidentiality: Adhere to strict confidentiality guidelines when handling sensitive information related to students and their families.• Perform additional duties as assigned by the principal.
 
Terms of Employment
• Workdays determined by the classified work schedule/contract.
• Commitment to maintaining and enhancing skills necessary for position
responsibilities.
• Supervised and evaluated by the building principal according to district evaluation Procedures.

This role will be responsible for teaching students the fundamentals of broadcast journalism, including video production, podcast development, daily news show creation, sports broadcasting, and live event streaming. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in video production, streaming, and podcasting, along with a passion for mentoring students in the creative and technical aspects of media production.
Essential Responsibilities:
NOTE: The responsibilities below are not ranked in order of importance.
• Teach Broadcast Journalism: Instruct students in the basics of video production, podcast development, live event streaming, sports broadcasting, and daily news shows.
• Video Production: Lead students in creating and editing video projects, including storyboarding, filming, and post-production using industry-standard software and equipment.
• Podcast Development: Guide students in the creation of podcasts, covering the entire production process from concept development to final editing and distribution.
• Daily News Show: Manage and oversee the production of a daily school news show, including student-led reporting, scriptwriting, filming, and editing.
• Sports Broadcasting: Teach and oversee live sports broadcasts, including announcing, camera work, and production.
• Live Event Streaming: Direct and manage the streaming of live events such as school district activities, including graduation, athletic events, music concerts, and other school-related events.
• Technology Integration: Ensure students are proficient in using cameras,microphones, and streaming software to produce high-quality content.
• Mentorship and Student Development: Provide mentorship to students interested in broadcast journalism, helping them develop both technical and storytelling skills.
• Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other faculty members to integrate broadcast journalism with other school activities and events.
