    General Job Description:
    The Construction Basics Teacher will provide high-quality instruction in foundational construction skills to high school students, fostering an understanding of industry standards, safety practices, and hands-on techniques. This educator will deliver engaging, well-structured lessons that align with the educational goals of Deer Park Jr/Sr High School and prepare students for potential careers in construction or skilled trades.

     

    Qualifications:

     
    • Passion for teaching and mentoring high school students
    • Minimum of three years of verifiable experience in construction, carpentry, or a related trade
    • Experience in basic construction techniques, tool safety, and industry best practices
    • Teaching experience is preferred but not required
    • Strong communication, organizational, and classroom management skills
    • Commitment to working collaboratively with students, faculty, and staff
    • Must pass a criminal background check upon hiring
     

    Responsibilities:

     
    • Teach one bell per day of Construction Basics to high school students
    • Deliver engaging, hands-on instruction that introduces students to fundamental construction skills
    • Serve as a mentor and role model, promoting professionalism, responsibility, and teamwork
    • Ensure safe and effective use of tools and materials in the classroom and lab setting
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of construction industry trends and best practices
    • Foster a positive and supportive learning environment
    • Maintain accurate student records and adhere to school policies and procedures
    • Perform other duties as assigned by school administration
