    Job Summary:

    The Career & Technical Education (CTE) Business Liaison serves as a bridge between the school district and local industries to enhance educational opportunities for students and workforce development. This role focuses on building and maintaining partnerships with businesses, facilitating student internships and work-based learning experiences, and aligning curriculum with industry needs to prepare students for successful careers.

    Essential Functions:
     

     
    • Establishes and maintains strong relationships with local businesses, industry leaders, and community organizations.
    • Identifies potential business/industry partners and collaborates with them to create mutually beneficial programs and initiatives.
    • Organizes and participates in networking events, industry meetings, and community outreach activities to promote school/industry collaboration.
    • Facilitates collaboration between business/industry partners and other CTE personnel.
    • Serves as the primary point of contact for business/industry partners interested in working with the Granite School District Career and Technical Education Department.
    • Creates and maintains a district database of partners who are willing to participate in various work-based learning activities that support the entire district in grades K-12 such as internships, apprenticeships, job shadows, fieldtrips, guest presentations, career fairs, etc.
    • Acts as point of contact with YouScience for Work-Based Experiences tools.
    • Identifies business/industry partners willing to participate in pathway advisory boards.
    • Attends pathway advisory boards as needed.
    • Provides onboarding to partners and students for the centralized district internship and apprenticeship program.
    • Collaborates with high school work-based learning specialists to ensure state and district expectations and guidelines are met for all work-based learning activities.
    • Serves as a central point of contact for work-based learning/advisory board business partners.
    • Aligns partner resources for executing pathway nights, career fairs, and other district work-based learning events.
    • Attends district work-based learning meetings.
    • Attends State work-based learning webinars (suggested but not required).
    • Supports high school work-based learning specialists in establishing “next step-opportunities” for students’ post-internship.
    • Develops a working knowledge and understanding of post-secondary education options and opportunities for students.
    • Travels between multiple work and industry locations utilizing own transportation.

    Required Knowledge and Skills:

    • Knowledge of career and technical education programs and workforce development trends.

    Required Education, Training and Qualifications:
     
    • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
    • Requires a current driver’s license.

    Required Prior Experience:
     
    • Requires a minimum of three (3) years of experience in work-based learning, business partnership development, or workforce development.
    • Experience working with school districts and/or industry partners preferred.
      
    Note: The District reserves the right to make specific requirements for this position, however, when prior work experience has been evaluated to be particularly pertinent, some exchanges between training and experience might be authorized.

    • Interacts and collaborates with industry partners, associations, Chambers of Commerce, government, educators and other work-based learning team members.
    • Works collaboratively with a diverse group of people.
    • Creates and supports a team-based environment within the program and the CTE department.

    Working Environment:
     
    • Work takes place primarily in a school environment, but all involves work in the community and in industry-partner facilities.
    • Supervision of students may take place inside or outside a school or industry facility in all types of weather and conditions.
    • Requires travel between various work locations in all types of weather and conditions.
    • Flexible hours are required, including occasional evenings and weekends.
