  •   APPLICATION FOR 2025 SUMMER SCHOOL OR ESY TEACHING ASSIGNMENT

    Compensation for Summer School/Extended School Year is listed in Appendix D of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Glendale Teachers Association and Glendale Unified. You may access the teacher salary schedule HERE and the service provider salary schedule HERE. Per the Collective Bargaining Agreement, only one day of Sick Leave may be used during summer session if you have any available as of the last day of school (June 11, 2025).

    Both Secondary Summer School and the Secondary Special Education Extended School Year (ESY) Program will begin on Monday, June 16, 2025, and end on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, with classes scheduled Monday through Friday. Thursday, June 19, and Friday, June 20, will be a holiday in honor of Juneteenth (Emancipation Day). Friday, July 4, will be a holiday in honor of Independence Day.
    • Semester 1: June 16, 2025, through July 3, 2025 (holiday June 19-20)
    • Semester 2: July 7, 2025, through July 22, 2025 (holiday July 4)
     
    • Middle School programs will run from 8:30 AM to 1:03 PM at Roosevelt, Rosemont, Toll, and Wilson Middle Schools.
    • High School programs will run from 8:30 AM to 1:45 PM, with a possible APEX/Schools PLP period extending from 2:00 PM to 4:25 PM at Crescenta Valley, Daily, Glendale, and Hoover High Schools.

    Elementary Special Education Summer School/Extended School Year (ESY) will run as follows:
    • Preschool will be held at Cloud and Pacific Preschool from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM, Monday through Thursday, from June 16, 2025, through July 10, 2025, and then Monday through Friday from July 14, 2025 through July 18, 2025 (20 days).  Thursday, June 19, 2025, and Friday, June 20, 2025, will be a holiday in honor of Juneteenth (Emancipation Day).  Friday, July 4, 2025, will be a holiday in honor of Independence Day.
    • Elementary ESY will be held at Horace Mann and La Crescenta Elementary Schools from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM, Monday through Thursday, from June 16, 2025, through July 10, 2025, and then Monday through Friday from July 14, 2025 through July 18, 2025 (20 days).  Thursday, June 19, 2025, and Friday, June 20, 2025, will be a holiday in honor of Juneteenth (Emancipation Day).  Friday, July 4, 2025, will be a holiday in honor of Independence Day.
    • Secondary ESY will follow the school site (see above)

    Per Appendix D of the CBA, College View and FACTS will run an “Extended Session” for students.
    • ESY at College View will begin on June 16, 2025, and end on July 22, 2025, with classes scheduled Monday through Friday. June 19-20 and July 4 are holidays. Hours for this program will be from 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM; however, teachers will be required to work a contractual day of seven hours and fifteen minutes from 8:00 AM to 3:15 PM.
    • ESY at FACTS will begin on June 16, 2025, and end on July 22, 2025, with classes scheduled Monday through Friday. June 19-20 and July 4 are holidays. Hours for this program will be from 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM; however, teachers will be required to work a contractual day of seven hours and fifteen minutes from 8:00 AM to 3:15 PM.
    • Adaptive Physical Education will begin on June 16, 2025, and end on July 22, 2025, with classes scheduled Monday through Friday. June 19-20 and July 4 are holidays. Teachers will be required to work a contractual day of seven hours and fifteen minutes from 8:00 AM to 3:15 PM and will travel to school sites throughout GUSD to provide services.

    NOTE TO APPLICANTS:
    All applications will be reviewed by the appropriate administrator(s) in charge of a specific program. Offers of employment are made only by the Human Resources Office. These offers will be made early in May.

    All summer school course offerings, assignments, and classes are contingent upon sufficient student enrollment and funding. Classes that do not maintain sufficient enrollment for funding may be discontinued. Your signature on the form where applicable indicates that you commit to provide service during the ENTIRE session for which you have applied.

    This application must be submitted no later than 4:30 PM on Monday, April 18, 2025, to be considered in the priority pool.  Applications will continue to be accepted after this deadline but WILL BE GIVEN THE LOWEST PRIORITY IN SELECTION.

    ADDITIONAL TRAINING:
    If offered a position teaching English Language Development, I understand that I agree to participate in mandatory training on June 3, 2025, from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM. This training will be paid at the District Initiated Special Project Rate for Pay from Appendix F of the Collective Bargaining Agreement..

    If offered a position teaching elementary special education, I understand that I agree to participate in mandatory training to be held on June 13, 2025, from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM. This training will be paid at the District Initiated Special Project Rate for Pay from Appendix F of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

    If offered a position teaching APEX or Schools PLP*, I understand that I agree to participate in mandatory training to be held on June 9, 2025, from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM OR June 12, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. This training will be paid at the District Initiated Special Project Rate for Pay from Appendix F of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

    *Schools PLP, similar to APEX, is a digital teaching and learning platform.
