JOB TITLE: Speech Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA)

POSITION PURPOSE
Provide occupational therapy services to students in the school setting under the direction of a registered Speech Language Pathologist (SLP). This person will provide direct and consultative speech and language therapy services to designated students according to the goals contained in an individual educational program (IEP).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Conduct speech, language, and hearing screening as directed by the supervising licensed speech-language pathologist.?
Conduct observations and prepare clinical materials.
Work with classroom teachers to implement classroom activities to improve communication skills of students.
Implement the treatment program or the individual education plan (IEP) as designed by the supervising licensed speech-language pathologist.
Maintain daily records of treatments, document progress notes and submit billing in a timely manner.
Consult and collaborate with teachers and teams by suggesting ideas for classroom interventions. Trains other staff as needed.
Adhere to the policies and procedures, including network and internet use of G-CCSC.
Make positive contributions to the culture and climate of G-CCSC.
The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or nonprescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the Corporation.

QUALIFICATIONS
1. Bachelor’s Degree in Speech Communication, Speech-Language Pathology, or Communication Disorders – Speech Sciences with an emphasis in Speech Language Hearing Sciences AND • Completion of an approved School Speech-Language Pathology Assistant Program.
2. Valid Speech Language Pathologist Assistant licensure.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
Ability to lift 25 lbs.
Ability to carry 25 lbs.
Ability to work at a desk, conference table or in meetings of various configurations.
Ability to see for the purpose of reading laws and codes, rules and policies and other printed matter.
Ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels.
Ability to communicate so others will be able to clearly understand a normal conversation.
Ability to operate office equipment.
Ability to reach in all directions.
