    Job Description:
    • Helps the teacher create a warm and accepting community of learners and nurtures each child in the context of his/her family.

    • Follow the teacher’s plans, and helps to organize, and implement activities using Creative Curriculum Goals and Objectives as a framework for:

       
      • Weekly Lesson Plans

      • Appropriate Room Arrangement

         
        • Interest areas are provided with interesting and challenging materials that are changed out regularly

        • Children’s individual interests are followed when possible

        • Activities are available at different learning levels

        • Displaying children’s art and learning materials at the child’s eye level

      • Observe children’s progress

         
        • Collect facts

        • Analyze and evaluate facts

        • Apply what you have learned to plan for each child and the group

      • Help the teacher track children’s progress using the Continuum and Individual Portfolios and share that information regularly through home visits and formal and informal parent teacher conferences.

    • Follows the teacher’s guidance and support

    • Helps to engage children in indoor and outdoor activities

    • Helps the teacher to maintain safety for children indoors and outdoors and on field trips

    • Helps distribute healthy snacks and meals in a positive family atmosphere

    • Is professional in appearance and upholds standards of confidentiality in their interactions with parents and other staff

    • Maintains a pleasant demeanor, a positive attitude, a willing spirit, team commitment, and flexibility in meeting the needs of the preschool program as a whole

    • Attend weekly team and staff meeting 

    • Takes classes and attends training to obtain and maintain at least a level 2 credential in Colorado Shines PDIS

    • Support toileting needs

    • Assist in setting up centers and checking children in

    • Perform outside playground duties

    • Set up breakfast, snacks and clean up afterward

    • Continually monitor learning centers and assist students in learning to clean up afterward

    • Put out cots/mats for nap , supervise children at nap time, and disinfect cots weekly

    • Clean tables and stack chairs at the end of the day

    • Prepare student backpacks to go home each day

    • Prepare bleach water and soapy water daily

    • Comply with CDE licensing and ABC/ECERS regulations

     

    Perform any other related duties as required or assigned. 

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:
     To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:

     
    • High school diploma or equivalent 
    • Basic Skills Competence (Minimum 2 years of college (e.g. associates degree), OR 48 semester hrs of college coursework, OR Pass paraprofessional test (CDE and NCLB qualifications) prior to being hired
    • Oral and written communication skills
    • English language skills; multilingual skills preferred
    • CPR and First Aid certifications encouraged
    • Knowledge of developmental, emotional, and behavioral disabilities 
    • Participate in professional growth opportunities.
