Job Title: Middle School College and Career Labs Instructor
Reports to – Principal
Plans, organizes and delivers the program of instruction based on approved curriculum; monitors, evaluates, and communicates student progress; maintains records and makes reports; enforces Board policies, regulations, and rules; supervises students, and secures and maintains school property and materials.
About College and Career Labs:
College and Career Labs provide middle school students with engaging, hands-on experiences that explore various career pathways and academic disciplines. Through interactive, project-based learning, students:
Develop essential skills: Critical thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, communication, and research.
Explore career options: Gain exposure to diverse fields and understand the skills and knowledge required for success.
Build academic foundations: Develop foundational knowledge in science, technology, engineering, math, and other key subjects.
Increase motivation: Cultivate a passion for learning and a drive for future success.
Key Responsibilities:
Facilitate Interactive Labs: Guide students through engaging, hands-on activities in a collaborative learning environment.
Implement Curriculum: Deliver high-quality, relevant, and engaging curriculum designed to prepare students for college and careers.
Create a Positive Learning Environment: Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom where students feel motivated and empowered to explore their interests.
Monitor Student Progress: Track student learning, identify areas of need, and provide individualized support.
Collaborate with Colleagues: Work with other teachers, administrators, and school staff to integrate Career Labs into the overall school curriculum.
Maintain Lab Equipment and Materials: Ensure the lab space is well-maintained, organized, and equipped with all necessary materials.
Stay Current: Continuously learn and adapt to new technologies, career trends, and best practices in education.
Performs other duties as assigned by the principal or school center head.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Education or a related field.
Valid teaching certification.
Proven experience working with middle school students.
Strong facilitation and classroom management skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Passion for student success and a commitment to creating engaging learning experiences.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is performed while standing or walking. It requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision and hearing. The work requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations. The work at times requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching, with the ability to lift, carry, push or pull light weights.
