Must pass Pre-Employment/Post-Offer Physical Examination; required upon hire
Currently hold a valid Colorado Driver's License
Possess or obtain a Colorado Commercial Driver's License Class B with P and S endorsement no airbrake restriction within 30 days of hire
Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical Examiner's Certificate (MEC) required upon hire
Submit a current Motor Vehicle Record (MVR); required upon hire
Must maintain all required certifications throughout employment
First Aid and CPR Certification or be in training
JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary/Objective
Responsible for the safe operation and basic maintenance of a vehicle transporting students to and from Frontier Academy for school-sponsored events, in accordance to policies and procedures.
Essential Functions
Perform daily pre-trip inspection on vehicle in accordance with CDOT
Performs a post-trip inspection at the end of each trip
Reports any problems found during the pre-trip inspection to the transportation director
Possess full knowledge of state laws regarding school bus operations and comply with all provisions of the CDOT and all rules prescribed by the Colorado Department of Education
Possess a full knowledge and comply with school policies regarding school bus operations
Maintains and promotes a professional and defensive driving attitude at all times
Reports immediately by telephone any emergencies, breakdowns, or days while in-route including student discipline problems
Effectively communicates in person during urgent and emergency situations.
Maintains discipline on school bus, including controlling noise level
Maintains the cleanliness of the bus, by sweeping the inside and washing the outside when needed
Attends all meetings and training sessions as required by the school
Must submit to Drug and Alcohol Testing and random testing throughout employment
Performs other duties as assigned
Submit to a Motor Vehicle Records check annually

Work Environment/ Physical Demands
Ability to work evenings and weekends on an as needed basis
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Travel
Transportation of students and staff for school sponsored events and activities
Additional Qualifications:
Must be able to follow oral and written directions and have the ability to establish effective working relationships with staff and students. Visual, auditory and ambulatory ability. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Conflict management skills. Strong organizational skills. Knowledge, skills and abilities sufficient to perform the function of the position as outlined.

Facilitate learning and guide students toward the fulfillment of their potential for physical, intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth and maturation. Accountable to the building principal and athletic director where assigned.
Plans a practice plan that meets the team and individual needs, interests, and abilities of students;
Creates an environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students;
Maintains a discipline that fosters a safe and positive environment for all students and coaching staff in accordance with school and county policies;
Ensures adequate supervision to ensure health, welfare, and safety of all students;
Guides the learning process toward the achievement of proper skill levels, establishes clear objectives for all practices and games, and communicates these objectives to students;
Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides appropriate feedback.
Counsels with colleagues, student, and/or parents on a regular basis;
Assists the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing students life and conduct, and develops reasonable rules and procedures during practices, games, and team transportation. Maintains order during all team events in a fair and just manner;

Employs a variety of instructional techniques to meet the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved;
Respects students' personal spaces;
Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation;
Makes provision for being available to students athletes and parents when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms;
Cooperates with other members of the coaching staff in planning practice times and gym use;
Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities;
Reports all student injuries, accidents, illnesses, and discipline problems to the appropriate authority immediately or as soon as is reasonably possible;
Models non-discriminatory practices in all activities;
Complies with and supports school and division regulations and policies;
Works to establish and maintain open lines of communication with student athletes and their parents.
Provides for his/her own professional growth through an ongoing program of reading, workshops, seminars, and conferences;
Performs other related duties as assigned by building administrator(s) in accordance with school/division policies and practices.
