    Job Title:  Special Education Curriculum Writer – Secondary Reading I and II Course Development

    Reports to:  Special Education Coordinator and/or Administrators

    Dept/School:  Special Education Department     
     
    Work Days:  Summer 2025 (May 27, 28, 29, and June 2, 3, 4; 6 days total)

    Salary: $35/hr

    PRIMARY PURPOSE: 
    Responsible for completing an ALT GPS to include model lessons plans, instructional resources, and an assessment calendar under the guidance of Frisco ISD Special Education Department. The purpose in the development of the  resource is to support ALT Centralized teachers by providing a scope and sequence aligned to grade level expectations by providing lesson planning supports across all core content areas.Responsible for developing and designing secondary local elective courses: Reading I and II,  including scope and sequence and activities utilizing scaffolded TEKS and Special Education priority supplemental reading resources:

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    Special Knowledge/Skills:
    Understands how to implement the written curriculum
    Fully committed to the time involved with curriculum writing
    Understanding of reading skill progression
    Fluency with NY2/ULS
    Competence in utilizing SPED Alt GPS
    Unit planning and lesson design
    Solution driven and focused
    Skilled collaborator

    Experience:
    Secondary or Elementary ELAR teaching experience in SPED preferred
    Science of Reading Certification or Reading Academy Certification preferred
     
    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
    Demonstrate the pedagogy of teaching and the ability to select appropriate instructional strategies.
    Utilize strong interpersonal skills and work collaboratively.
    Maintain focus and effectively manage time during curriculum writing sessions.
    Research best practices, pedagogy, content, and curricular resources.
    Evaluate curricular and instructional needs.
    Develop, create, and edit curriculum documents.
    Create a training plan for ensuring Reading I and II teachers have a strong foundation for curriculum implementation.

    Staff Summer Work Hours:
    8:30 AM - 3:00 PM
