  •   SUBSTITUTE TEACHER (Certified and/or Emergency)
    QUALIFICATIONS:
    1. Must hold a valid Kentucky teaching or substitute teaching certificate, or Statement of Eligibility (SOE); OR,
    2. Hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution; OR,
    3. Have 64 to 96 semester hours of college credit with at least a 2.45 GPA
    4. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
    5. Must meet the requirements for a criminal record check as specified by Kentucky State law
    6. Must meet health requirements as specified in district personnel policy

    REPORTS TO: Building Principal JOB GOAL: To enable each child to pursue his/her education as smoothly and completely as possible in the absence of the regular classroom teacher

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
    1. Reports to the building principal or school secretary upon arrival at the school building and upon departure of the school building at the end of the day.
    2. Maintains as fully as possible the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which assigned.
    3. Teaches the lesson outlined and described in a lesson plan prepared by the absent teacher.
    4. Consults, as appropriate, with the building principal, department head, team leader or collaborating teacher before initiating any teaching or other procedures not specified in the absent teacher’s lesson plan.
    5. Assumes responsibility for overseeing pupil behavior in class and during lunch and recess periods.
    6. Reports in writing with notes left for the absent teacher, the assignments made and comments regarding student behavior.
    7. Follows all policies, rules and procedures to which regular teachers are subject and which good teaching practice dictates.
    8. Maintains regular attendance, working as needed.
    9. Performs other related duties as assigned.

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary shall be established by the Board of Education. Salary and supplement schedule will be as per the District’s Salary Schedule. Employment shall be year to year and work schedule shall be on an as needed basis.
