Primary Function of Position:
The Computer Programmer develops algorithms, writes computer code, and provides technical support for existing and new systems within the district. This includes customization, third-party integrations, testing, documentation, reporting, and troubleshooting related to the district’s enterprise systems and associated software products.

Essential Job Functions:
Consults with supervisor, systems analyst, and end users to verify information about program intent, functions, features, data requirements, input requirements, output requirements, internal and external checks and controls, hardware and operating system environment, and interfaces with other systems.
Develops program specifications based on consultations with supervisor, systems analyst, and end users and converts specifications into computer code.
Compiles code into programs and corrects errors detected in compile process.
Creates test transactions and runs tests to find errors and confirm program meets specifications.
Writes and maintains documentation of changes to computer code, programs, and specifications and follows change request process.
Designs and codes layouts for onscreen user interfaces, printed outputs, and interfaces with other systems.
Reviews user and technical documentation written by others to confirm consistency with program operations.
Provides technical assistance by responding to inquiries regarding errors, problems, or questions with programs.
Revises program for corrections, enhancements, or system environment changes.
Utilizes program code revision software.
Modifies and maintains software programs written by others.
Continually updates knowledge and skills to keep abreast of new product developments and technologies.
Present on the job as described under working conditions and contract detail.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Required
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Systems, Technology, or related field and at least three (2) years of experience programming in an academic or industry setting – OR – Associate’s degree in a related field and at least five (4) years of experience programming in an academic or industry setting.
Experience documenting and maintaining source code, design information, and software requirements.
Adept at reading, writing, and interpreting technical documentation and procedure manuals.
Experience conducting research into hardware and software issues and products.
Detail oriented, highly self-motivated with strong organizational skills.
Ability to prioritize work load effectively while working in a time critical, high-pressure environment.
Ability to communicate effectively with peers, supervisors, managers, and customers within a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
Preferred
Programming experience with relational database technologies using .NET, ASP.NET, XML, C#, Java, AJAX, JavaScript, SQL, and Crystal Reports.
Experience with all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle, including system analysis, design, coding, testing, debugging and documentation.
Experience programming educational student accounting systems and related processes (e.g. Student Records, Admissions, Financial Aid, and Accounts Receivable).
Functional knowledge of the Oklahoma Career Tech system.
Working Conditions:
40-hour on-site workweek. May require periodic travel between Francis Tuttle campuses and out of town with occasional overnight stays. Primary work environment is an office environment that requires sitting for extended periods of time operating a computer keyboard and mouse. Reliable, dependable and punctual attendance. This is not an exhaustive list and reasonable accommodation will be made as needed.
Organizational Relationship:
Full-time, exempt personnel position reporting directly to the Director of Information Technology Services.
Contract Details:
Twelve-month contract subject to annual renewal. Working day and hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
