  •   The Fergus Falls School District is seeking to fill an middle school para educator position at Kennedy Secondary School for the 2024-25 school year. This position is for 8 hours/day during student contact days. Hourly wage rate: $19.05-20.70/hour

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    1. High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in education, special education, or a related field preferred.
    2. Experience working with students, particularly in an educational setting.
    3. Ability to follow directions and work effectively as part of a collaborative team.
    4. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and families.
    5. Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the academic and social-emotional growth of all students.
    6. Flexibility and adaptability to meet the evolving needs of students and the classroom environment.
    7. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board may find appropriate and acceptable
    JOB GOALS:
    • To provide supervision  for the In-School Suspension program; along with after school detention.
    • To provide a safe place for students to wait for buses and make the transfer to other buses in a safe and efficient manner.
    • To provide an organized and safe environment for students during their recess times.
    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
    The tasks listed below are not intended to limit other tasks that might reasonably be assigned as necessary.
    1. Supervise students placed in the In-School Suspension program and/or the after school detention program; along with general after school supervision of students at Kennedy Secondary School.
    2. Assist all KSS offices with clerical tasks as assigned; Operate office and school machines as needed.
    3. Recess supervision as assigned:
     
    • Supervise students in the gym or playground during recess.
    • Direct movement of groups to and from recess
     
    1. Bus duty as assigned (AM and PM):
     
    • Being visible in assisting the bus drivers with finding their parking spot and keeping the students out of the traffic area while buses come in.
    • Monitor and supervise students while waiting for buses.
    • Assist students with boarding the correct bus.
    • Report any vehicles blocking bus loading zones prior to buses arriving.
     
    1. Move, if necessary, and supervise students to a safe place during times of crisis, ie: tornados, severe weather, lock-downs, etc.  Refer to red Emergency Information Binder.
    2. In-service participation as required.
