Job Summary:
Fenwick High School is seeking a temporary, part-time summer school teacher from Monday, June 16, 2025 - Friday, July 11, 2025 to teach the following enrichment courses for incoming freshmen:
Classes will meet Mondays - Fridays. No classes will meet on Thursday, June 19; Thursday, July 3; or Friday, July 4.
Job Purpose:
Faculty at Fenwick High School provide instruction and guidance to their students, in support of Fenwick’s mission to educate and empower students to lead, achieve, and serve. The teacher is also expected to collaborate with colleagues in their instructional practice, and to seek continuous professional growth. The teacher supports students’ success by communicating effectively with parents and guardians, including by keeping Schoology updated and corresponding via email.
Job Function:
The teacher is to be prepared on a daily basis for a full period of instruction for each of his/her courses.
The teacher is to grade and return all tests, quizzes and homework in a timely manner.
The teacher is to update the Schoology gradebook daily during the summer term.
The teacher is to provide consistent and fair assessments on a regular basis. These assessments are to be based on the material from classroom instruction and readings.
The teacher is to be on time to all of his/her classes. He/she may not leave his/her students unattended.
The teacher is to dress and act professionally in accordance with the Employee Handbook.
The teacher is to attend, and be on time for all required meetings, including the start-of-term and end-of-term Summer Academic Program faculty/staff meetings.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Bachelor of Arts degree in English or a related field. (Master’s degree preferred)
Illinois Professional Educator’s License (PEL) preferred
Prior teaching experience is required; high school teaching experience is preferred.
Ability to use technology in instruction and for student learning
Familiarity with 1:1 iPad use in the classroom a plus
Commitment to student growth
Preferred experience or knowledge in the Catholic faith
