POSITION SUMMARY:   Occupational therapists in the educational setting provide specially designed instruction and related services.  The occupational therapist collaborates with families and educational team members to develop appropriate education programs and advises on health related concerns as they impact education for students with special needs.  The program goal is to help students to function as independently as possible within the least restrictive environment. This position requires working with children of various ages and a variety of disabilities (preschool to 12th grade).  Position requires being an itinerant and traveling to different school sites within the district.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. This list is meant to be representative, not exhaustive. • Evaluates student occupational profile, the classroom/school environment, and sensory and motor performance deficits that interfere with student development, learning, and access to education. The occupational therapist utilizes a variety of standardized, functional, and behavioral assessments; skilled clinical observations; histories; and interviews.
• Synthesizes evaluation results into a comprehensive written report which reflects strengths and barriers to student participation in the educational environment and identifies need for occupational therapy services
• Participates in multidisciplinary meetings to review evaluation results, integrate findings with other disciplines, and develop recommendations
• Develops and implements occupational therapy intervention plans that include a variety of service delivery models: direct service, collaboration or shared goals/objectives with classroom staff, and consultation/problems solving.
• Coordinates services with the IEP team, including parent
• Adapts and modifies the environment including assistive technology and training
• Supervises certified occupational therapy assistant in the implementation of occupational therapy services
• In-service to classroom teachers and paraprofessionals to embed intervention techniques in the classroom and support generalization of student skills.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience
Possess degree in Occupational Therapy
Possess National Certification (NBCOT)
Possess current Washington State Occupational Therapy license

SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST

POSITION SUMMARY:
School Psychologists provide case consultation on psycho educational issues for all children.  They function as facilitators for special education evaluations of students who, for various reasons, are not succeeding in the school environment and have a suspected disability.  As part of evaluation team psychologists assess students in areas for which they are exclusively trained: cognitive, adjustment, and adaptive.  They lead the assessment team in drawing conclusions and providing recommendations based on all data engendered from the team evaluation.
This position requires working with children of various ages and a variety of disabilities (preschool to 12^th grade).  Position requires being an itinerant and traveling to different school sites within the district.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. This list is meant to be representative, not exhaustive. • Psychological evaluation, in which Psychologists employ those instruments for which they are exclusively trained. 
• Primary facilitator of special education evaluations and reevaluations.
• Facilitation of decisions around program needs for special services students transferring into the district.
• Consultation with district staff, patrons and other professionals around psycho-educational issues impacting all students.
• Consultation regarding placement decisions for special needs students.
• Compilation of supporting evaluation paperwork, as related to evaluation data by the School Psychologist. 
• Facilitation of transportation arrangements as appropriate for students transferring into the district with previous special education concerns.
• Share District Representative role with other professionals.
OTHER RESPONSIBLITIES:
As time allows school psychologists may choose to pursue various interests beyond their primary responsibilities.  Examples include but are not limited to developing a reading program, leading seminars on child development, teaching a psychology class, running psycho-educational groups, providing psycho-educational counseling or consultation or developing a discipline program for a building.

An academic core program (ACP) teacher works with students with identified disabilities that demonstrate primary learning needs in the academic domain.  They may need intensive specially designed instruction to learn how to read, write, and solve mathematical calculations and problems.  Additionally, they may have special needs in the social-emotional and/or functional life skills domains, but there are secondary to their academic core needs.

A resource support program (RSP) teacher works with identified special education students who may receive services in the special education and or general education settings.  The RSP teacher, in collaboration with the general education teachers design and implement services to meet the needs of the students with a variety of disabilities such as autism, cognitive deficits, behavioral disabilities, and specific learning disabilities.

This is a fast-paced turn around evaluation and Individualized Education Plan (IEP) for children who are turning three (transitioning from Part C to Part B of IDEA) and some children between the ages of three and five who were screened through the district ChildFind process.  Teams will evaluate a child in the morning.  If the child qualifies, the team will write a draft IEP and hold a meeting that afternoon.

OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST

POSITION SUMMARY: 
Occupational therapists in the educational setting provide specially designed instruction and related services.  The occupational therapist collaborates with families and educational team members to develop appropriate education programs and advises on health related concerns as they impact education for students with special needs.  The program goal is to help students to function as independently as possible within the least restrictive environment. This position is for Summer Preschool Assessment Team (PAT). All pay will be timesheeted. You must be available and commit to attending all assessment days.

This is a fast-paced turn around evaluation and Individualized Education Plan (IEP) for children who are turning three (transitioning from Part C to Part B of IDEA) and some children between the ages of three and five who were screened through the district ChildFind process.  Teams will evaluate a child in the morning.  If the child qualifies, the team will write a draft IEP and hold a meeting that afternoon.

PHYSICAL THERAPIST

POSITION SUMMARY: 
Physical therapists in the educational setting provide specially designed instruction and related services.  The physical therapist collaborates with families and educational team members to develop appropriate education programs and advises on health related concerns as they impact education for students with special needs.  The program goal is to help students to function as independently as possible within the least restrictive environment.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. This list is meant to be representative, not exhaustive. • Synthesizes evaluation results into a comprehensive written report which reflects strengths and barriers to student participation in the educational environment and identifies need for physical therapy services.
• Participates in multidisciplinary meetings to review evaluation results, integrate findings with other disciplines, and develop recommendations.
• Develops and implements physical therapy intervention plans that include a variety of service delivery models: direct service, collaboration or shared goals/objectives with classroom staff, and consultation/problems solving.
• Coordinates services with the IEP team, including parent.
• Identifies, adapts and modifies equipment.
• Supervises licensed physical therapy assistant in the implementation of physical therapy services.
• Inservice to classroom teachers and paraprofessionals to embed intervention techniques in the classroom and support generalization of student skills.
