POSITION SUMMARY:  Leads schoolwide ROTC program including recruiting and retaining cadets, implementing and monitoring extra-curricular opportunities, investing in and supporting the school-wide community and instructing cadets using ROTC curriculum to teach scholars citizenship, leadership, service to community, teamwork, self-discipline, personal responsibility and enable scholars to set and meet their goals for life. 
 
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. This list is meant to be representative, not exhaustive. • Teach Air Force JROTC curriculum to school’s corps of cadets
• Equip and maintain facility and materials in accordance with AF JROTC regulations
• Lead innovative and productive ongoing recruitment and retention practices within the school and school district
• Collaborate with school programs and staff to invest in the school and create positive, productive partnerships between ROTC and the school community
• Work with community officials to create a positive presence in the Federal Way community
• Create and support a variety of extra-curricular activities including but not limited to tutoring, community service, Drill Team, Color Guard, Awareness Presentation Team, Strength Team, leadership camp and field work for students
• Lead and participate in community events and community service opportunities within the school and surrounding area
• Understand and align all instruction to the Washington State standards within AF JROTC curriculum framework
• Enlist the assistance of counselors, administration, and other support personnel where appropriate.
• Coordinate with other JROTC units to enhance opportunities for cadets
• Establish and maintain clear parameters for student behavior in the classroom.
• Create and foster a welcoming and connected environment for scholars that supports the development of citizenship, leadership, service, teamwork, self-discipline, responsibility and self-actualization
 
 
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Oversee ROTC program and make appropriate and equitable delegation of tasks to best suit the strengths of each instructor and meet scholar and program needs.
• Perform such classroom teaching and other duties related to the school program as may be assigned from time to time by the Principal or designee.
• Organize the classroom setting to contribute to the learning process.
• Actively support and participate in schoolwide efforts and initiatives
• Follow all appropriate timelines and school and district policies
 
 
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree
 
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be a retired Officer in the USAF in good standing
Must be HQ AF JROTC Certified Instructor or willing to obtain prior to September 2020
Must be AF retired Officer less than five (5) years
Experience as an AF JROTC Instructor
Positive experience with Community Relations
Responsive to students and parents
Have an understanding of high school climate and culture
Successfully implemented leadership and service programs
Successfully implemented field experience programs
 
CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT:
Criminal background clearance
Work scheduled hours on a consistent basis, and any additional hours to meet program requirements as needed
Permanent employment contingent upon obtaining a Washington State CTE Teaching Credential

INTERVENTIONIST

POSITION SUMMARY:  This position will provide supplemental intervention services to identified students who are at-risk of not meeting state reading and/or math standards. These services will be designed in collaboration with classroom teachers and delivered preferably in the classroom or a designated intervention area.  Small group instruction will be provided to students with similar academic needs. Individual instruction will be provided when appropriate based on recommendation of intervention team. Research-based intervention programs and materials will be used that align with students’ deficit areas. This certificated position is supervised by the building principal and funded by the Title I/LAP program.

• Utilizes progress monitoring tools to record student growth and adjust instructional program as needed.
• Manage, (analyze, organize, input, and report) data to archive effectiveness of the intervention program and the resulting student achievement.

POSITION SUMMARY:  The Orientation and Mobility Specialist Teacher assesses plans, organizes and teaches orientation and mobility/vision compensatory skills for visually impaired students ages 3 through 21 in the school and community. Direct service as well as consultation is provided to students, schools, staff, and parents. The teacher works with other staff to integrate students into the regular classroom. The teacher travels to the student’s assigned schools and/or homes to provide direction and/or consultative special education services relating to the vision loss.

• Provides specially designed instruction in the appropriate educational media: regular print, large print, braille, auditory, or a combination for students with visual impairments, as determined by the IEP.
• Instruct the visually impaired student in the development of skills and knowledge that enables him/her to travel independently based on the IEP.
• Teach students with vision impairments to travel with proficiency, safety and confidence in familiar and unfamiliar environments.
• Transport the student to various community locations, as necessary, to provide meaningful instruction in realistic learning environments.
• Be responsible for the student’s safety at all times and in all teaching environments while fostering maximum independence
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Be knowledgeable about community funding available for the students with vision impairments
• Provide in-service training to general and special education personnel, administrative personnel, sighted peers and parents concerning the O&M needs of the student and appropriate methods for interacting with the student with vision impairments that will foster maximum independence and safety.
• Participate in necessary parent conferences and meetings as well as teacher’s staffing meetings regarding the students with vision impairments.
• Maintain adequate records on all assessments, IEPs, progress reports and signed parental consent forms for permission to travel in O&M specialist’s personal car/district vehicle.
• Actively participate/collaborate in an instructional team with other Special Education staff who are serving students with vision impairments.
• Interpret and explain eye conditions and educational implications for school staff responsible for instruction of students with visual impairments
• Register students with visual impairments with appropriate agencies such as Recordings for the Blind and Dyslexic, Washington Talking Book and Braille Library, Washington Instructional Resources Center and Department of Services for the Blind.
• Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit and supporting student learning objectives.

POSITION SUMMARY: 
The itinerant teacher for students with visual impairments travels to the students’ assigned school to provide direct and/or consultative special education services relating to vision loss.  The teacher is responsible for evaluating students, coordinating and implementing programming to provide an appropriate education for students with visual impairments in their educational program placement.  The students range in age from three through 21 years and may have only a visual impairment or additional disabilities.
 
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Preparing, implementing, and evaluating an annual educational plan for each visually impaired student based on individually assessed needs in accordance with district procedures.
• Participating on multidisciplinary teams for visually impaired students as appropriate.
• Interpret and explain eye conditions and educational implications for school staff responsible for instruction of students with visual impairments.
• Conducts functional vision evaluations and learning media assessments for enrolled and referred students with visual impairments.
• Provides specially designed instruction in the appropriate educational media: regular print, large print, braille, auditory or a combination for students with visual impairments, as determined by the IEP.
• Provide braille, recorded, enlarged materials and tactual symbols as appropriate for each student.
• Knowledge of the function and use of assistive, accommodative devices for use by the students with visual impairments.
• Assist in determining and procuring classroom equipment and materials necessary for the student with visual impairments to learn (braille, low vision devices, assistive technology, computer) including ensuring necessary room modifications and lighting changes.
• Knowledge of basic orientation and mobility techniques used with visually impaired persons.
• Knowledge of functional low vision and low vision aids prescribed for use by students with visual impairments.
• Collects data to demonstrate educational progress of students.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Be knowledgeable about community funding available for the students with vision impairments
• Provide in-service training to general and special education personnel, administrative personnel, sighted peers and parents concerning the O&M needs of the student and appropriate methods for interacting with the student with vision impairments that will foster maximum independence and safety.
• Participate in necessary parent conferences and meetings as well as teacher’s staffing meetings regarding the students with vision impairments.
• Maintain adequate records on all assessments, IEPs, progress reports and signed parental consent forms for permission to travel in O&M specialist’s personal car/district vehicle.

• Interpret and explain eye conditions and educational implications for school staff responsible for instruction of students with visual impairments
• Register students with visual impairments with appropriate agencies such as Recordings for the Blind and Dyslexic, Washington Talking Book and Braille Library, Washington Instructional Resources Center and Department of Services for the Blind.
• Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit and supporting student learning objectives.

POSITION SUMMARY: 
The itinerant teacher for students with visual impairments travels to the students’ assigned school to provide direct and/or consultative special education services relating to vision loss.  The teacher is responsible for evaluating students, coordinating and implementing programming to provide an appropriate education for students with visual impairments in their educational program placement.  The students range in age from three through 21 years and may have only a visual impairment or additional disabilities.
 
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Preparing, implementing, and evaluating an annual educational plan for each visually impaired student based on individually assessed needs in accordance with district procedures.
• Participating on multidisciplinary teams for visually impaired students as appropriate.
• Interpret and explain eye conditions and educational implications for school staff responsible for instruction of students with visual impairments.
• Conducts functional vision evaluations and learning media assessments for enrolled and referred students with visual impairments.

POSITION SUMMARY: The School Support Coordinator is the primary liaison between Human Resources and administrators at both schools and the administrative building.  This position also serves all applicants and employees by answering questions and/or guiding them through processes.  This position will support the District’s  mission for ensuring equity, inclusion, and diversity by using an equity-based lens that will transform outcomes for all students. The School Support Coordinator should be familiar with labor law and collective bargaining agreements (CBA) including interpretation and application. The School Support Coordinator works with administrators to ensure compliance with procedures such as screening applications, interview processes and candidate selection.  The individual in this position will onboard new hires, conduct new hire orientation, determine salary placement and enter pay.  This position requires an individual that can work in a fast pace environment and have the ability to meet inflexible deadlines  The School Support Coordinator must present an exemplary, professional customer service attitude to represent an appropriate District image.

POSITION SUMMARY: The family liaison will work under the direction of the  Executive Director for Equity for Scholar and Family Success and school principal in coordination with the school improvement team.  They will help the family and community partnership office and building principal measure the effectiveness of family engagement efforts and implement research based strategies and tools that promote effective family/school partnership practices connected to student success.

POSITION SUMMARY: The position of Manager, Client Support Services exists for the purposes of planning, organizing, directing, supervising and evaluating a first rate customer service team providing Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 in support of the district’s mission, vision and goals; coordinating, organizing and supervising Help Desk and Hardware Repair Team in supporting networked devices in all district schools and departments.  This position serves as the single focal point in the district for IT, including policies, systems, procedures, and administration of these services.  

The Manager, Client Support must have proven leadership skills in planning and workload allocations, directing, mentoring and leading team members, as well as managing the performance of the team. The manager must also establish effective communication with business, operations and educational managers within the district. This is a ‘working’ leadership position, approximately 40% technical and 60% managerial. The manager must supervise technical staff, accomplish managerial tasks, and possess the necessary skills to provide quality customer services.
 
As a senior leader in the Information Technology Services Department, the manager must work closely with colleagues and the Chief Technology Officer to develop and execute plans to grow organizational capacity and to add resources as approved and appropriate.

• Facilitates communication among department staff and district staff, for the purpose of evaluating situations, identifying appropriate actions, and/or developing recommendations.

POSITION SUMMARY School Psychologists provide case consultation on educational issues for all children. They function as facilitators for special education evaluations of students who, for various reasons, are not succeeding in the school environment and have a suspected disability. As part of evaluation team, psychologists assess students in areas for which they are exclusively trained: cognitive, adjustment, and adaptive. Psychologist Interns lead the assessment team in drawing conclusions and providing recommendations based on all data engendered from the team evaluation.
This position requires working with children of various ages and a variety of disabilities (preschool to 12^th grade). The position requires being an itinerant and traveling to different school sites within the district.

The Federal Way Public Schools hosts a robust internship program for school psychologists that includes participating in assessment, consultation, and intervention activities in alignment with the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) practice model. 
Internships are for current graduate students in the field of School Psychology during their internship year. Interns will complete aspects of the work outlined in the job description below, in alignment with the internship requirements of their specific graduate program. Interns may obtain internships experiences through our Pre-K to 21 special education programs, through our emergent MTSS systems, as well as through participation in monthly school psychologist staff meetings, clinical staffing teams, and professional learning communities.
Specific duties and internship experiences are determined through collaboration between the intern and their district internship supervisor and university supervisor, in order to provide a well-rounded internship experience tailored to the unique interests and abilities of the intern school psychologist.

• Audit expenditure allocations for proper coding and compliance with law and district policy.  Ensure that certifications are prepared, that payables and cash receipts input balances, and that stale-dated warrants are canceled and reissued. 
• Assist school and department staff concerning accounts payable and cash receipts processing; provides advice and direction; answer technical and procedural questions from staff and vendors.
• Prepare, post, and reconcile receipts, journal entries, invoice requisitions, time sheets, and personnel data changes.  May prepare and maintain accounts receivable records to include billings, adjustments and receipts.
• May receipt incoming checks and cash and prepare daily bank deposits.
• Assist accounting staff in conducting internal audits and reconciling subsidiary accounting records to general ledger; and in analyzing and correcting discrepancies.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to support job requirements.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
• May assist accounting staff in a variety of financial, accounting and budgetary reports for submission to supervisor, and other district personnel and various state or local agencies and board.  Accumulate data and prepare narrative explanations as assigned using spreadsheet, database and word processing software.
• Assist in developing and maintaining procedures and systems.
• May assist in coordinating fixed asset inventory process and maintaining appropriate fixed asset records in accordance with district policy and state and federal regulations.
• Serves as member of the Business Services team of the District.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
High school graduation or equivalent
Two years of increasingly responsible experience in bookkeeping, accounting, payroll or a related field
Two years college level coursework in accounting, business, payroll, or a related field.  Related education and experience may be substituted
 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience with automated accounting systems
Ten-key by touch; data entry skills.
Experience with computerized business software applications.

This position works Monday-Friday, 12 months per year
