Effective communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving are vital to successfully navigate these interactions. Problem Solving The Carpenter encounters a diverse array of problem-solving scenarios that demand quick, strategic, and effective solutions. Challenges include resolving space issues, addressing unexpected maintenance emergencies, mounting or re-mounting equipment across all kinds of systems in the buildings, balancing quality control with budgetary constraints. Failure to adequately resolve maintenance issues can result in compromised safety for students and staff, increased operational costs, and potential regulatory non-compliance. Freedom to Act Decision(s) Position Makes and Decision(s) Referred to Higher Authority Autonomy is a significant component of this role, with the incumbent expected to make day-to-day operational decisions that align with district policies and strategic objectives. This includes prioritizing service request tasks and immediate problem-solving when necessary. Decisions requiring significant financial expenditure, policy deviations, or strategic shifts are escalated to the Plant and Electrical Manager or relevant administrative authority. The incumbent is encouraged to innovate within the scope of their responsibilities to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness. The work environment for the Carpenter primarily involves indoor settings across various school facilities, with occasional outdoor settings required for external building maintenance. The role may involve exposure to cleaning chemicals, dust, degreasers, and toxic chemicals. The noise level varies from quiet office settings to very loud maintenance areas and use of very loud carpentry equipment. Plans and coordinates the work of paras, parents, and volunteers in the classroom and on field trips. Creates an environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, interest centers and exhibits of student's work. Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior in collaboration with building principal to help ensure safety and positive school climate. Participate in all mandatory training or training appropriate to the position as required by the district. Supervising and monitoring recess to ensure students' safety, promote positive social interactions, and foster a healthy and inclusive play environment. Position Purpose Provides support to children to help them succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. Collaborates with educators, parents, and other professionals to help create safe, healthy, and supportive learning environments. Evaluates students referred as potential candidates for Special Education programming and presents a report to the local education authority in collaboration with other educational specialists. The incumbent performs tasks under the direction of a certified teacher and responds to day-to-day needs, answer questions, and respond to emergent issues. Non-emergent issues are discussed with the Teacher or Building Principal. The incumbent takes initiative to ensure completion of all tasks and will adjust priorities to accommodate competing workload demands.
