    TITLE:

    JOB SUMMARY:
     
    To create a flexible junior high program and class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; to establish effective rapport with pupils; to motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for secondary school education, in accordance with each pupil's ability; to establish good relationships with parents and with other staff members.

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
     
    • 185 day contracted work year.
    • Salary based on education and experience.
    • Certificated Salary Schedule.
     
    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
     
    Credential:
    • General Elementary (K-8), General Junior High (7-8), General Secondary (7-8), Standard Elementary (K-8), Standard Secondary (7-8). General Elementary, Standard Elementary (issued on a partial fulfillment basis).         
    Education:
    • Bachelor's degree, including all courses needed to meet credential requirement.
    Experience:
    • Better than average recommendations from student teaching supervisors or other professionals who have observed the personal characteristics, scholastic attainment, and classroom performance of the teacher.
     Personal Qualities:
    • Appearance, grooming and personality which establishes a desirable example for pupils. 
    • Ability to meet district standards for physical and mental health. 

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THIS POSITION:
     
    • Teach the subjects prescribed by state and local regulatory bodies.
    • Instruct pupils in citizenship, basic communication skills, and other general elements of the course of study specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.
    • Provide planned learning experiences in order to motivate pupils and best utilize the available time for instruction.
    • Develop lesson plans and instruction materials and provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
    • Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
    • Evaluate pupils' academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, prepare progress reports, and communicate with parents on the individual pupil's progress.
    • Identify pupil needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
    • Select and requisition books, instructional aids, and instructional supplies, and maintain required inventory records.
    • Supervise pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day.
    • Administer group standardized tests in accordance with district testing program.
    • Share in the sponsorship of student activities and participate in faculty committees.
    • Plan and coordinate the work of aides, teacher assistants, and other paraprofessionals.
    • Maintain professional competence through participation in required in-service education activities provided by the district and/or self-directed professional growth activities.
    • Perform basic attendance accounting and business services as required.
    • Establish and maintain district standards as prescribed in board policies and district rules and regulations.
    • Incorporated within one or more of the previously mentioned essential functions of this job description are the following
