    PRIMARY PURPOSE:
    The Purchasing Specialist is accountable to the Coordinator of Purchasing

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    TEA certification requirements
    High School Graduate or GED
    Experience in office operations

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
    •  Assist the purchasing department in the preparation of requisitions, purchase orders, typing specifications, and daily office correspondence.
    •  Assist the purchasing department in inquiring budget balances for all purchase requisitions.
    •  Assist the purchasing department in tabulating all bids.
    •  Assist the purchasing department with the processing of the vendor master-file, commodity class and class items, and update vendor master file.
    •  Performs all duties in a safe manner to avoid injury to oneself and/or to others.
    •  Performs other related duties as assigned.

    EQUIPMENT USED:
    •  Typewriter, computer, printer, copier, fax machine, calculator, telephone, shredder
