Job Title: Part-Time Paraprofessional
Reports To: School Site Principal
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
SUMMARY Provides instructional assistance for teachers for special education, general education and second language students in the class room, and on campus grounds.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Accompanies students on field trips.
- Assists the teacher in maintaining a clean, attractive and safe learning environment.
- Types, files and duplicates materials for teacher's use.
- Assists with urinary/bladder and bowel care such as diapering, catheterization etc.
- Removes and cares for prosthesis.
- Assists with respiratory functions such as suctioning, oxygen administration, and asthma control.
- May take specimens such as blood glucose levels.
- Assists students who need help with feeding and medication.
- May assist students with feeding and other activities of daily living.
- Lifts and transfers students.
- Assists teachers with general clerical work such as filing, photocopying, word processing etc.
- Assists students in the classroom with reading, math and other subjects.
- Supervises children at recess and getting on and off the bus to ensure child safety and that each child is accounted for.
- May serve as an assistant for a special program.
- May make home visits.
- Assists students with classroom and homework assignments.
- Serves as aide on the bus.
- Assists with overall programming of students in environments designated by the school.
- Participates in behavior modification programs.
- Assists teachers in the classroom and on the playground.
- Reports information about a child's development and behavior to teachers by collecting appropriate data.
- Organizes and monitors the use of materials and supplies.
- Assists staff in implementing instructional and clerical programs.
- May operate an in school suspension center maintaining order and discipline.
- Utilizes available technology and assistive technology under the direction of the teacher/case manager.
- Performs related duties as required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Equivalent to graduation from High School and 60 college credits. Educational course work and prior classroom experience preferred. CPR and First Aid certificate required.
Professional Educator License, Educator License with Stipulations with a Paraprofessional Approval or Short Term Approval Paraprofessional Liceense required.
Valid Drivers License
Knowledge of: Policies and objectives of assigned programs.
Modern office practices and procedures.
School site and assigned , policies and procedures
Basic principles and techniques of education.
Correct English usage.
Operation of modern office equipment including PC and related software.
First aid and CPR
Educational programming of students with second languages and special needs.
Ability to: Prepare a variety of records and reports
Assist teachers in classroom education activities.
Supervise students at recess and entering and exiting buses.
Keyboard at 30 wpm from clear copy
Establish and maintain effective relationships with others
Operate a variety of modern office equipment including PC and related software.
Perform arithmetic calculations quickly and accurately.
Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Understand and follow oral and written directions
Assist with student health care needs.
Assist students with of daily living such as feeding, urinary and bowel care.
LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to students, parents and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in inside environmental conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to video display and outdoors weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Part-Time Paraprofessional hours are 3.20 per day, 4.00 per day, or 4.50 per day.
