Spanish Teacher The classroom teacher accepts the challenge of a working partnership with their colleagues, with parents and with the students to affect the faith formation and the academic education of students at St. Francis High School. This work requires the individual teacher to be adaptable to various instructional methodologies, to be available for student assistance beyond the regular class hours, and to be promoters of student achievement.
Teachers perform all duties and responsibilities in a professional manner and acts in accordance with the policies, procedures, and mission of St. Francis High School.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Masters the necessary content knowledge and skills to successfully teach assigned content area(s) and grade level(s).
- Develops daily and unit lesson plans, assessments, and a scope and sequence that are thoughtful, goal-oriented and aligned with department curriculum.
- Utilizes available technology to enhance lessons.
- Maintains accurate records of grade calculations, behavioral performance, and attendance as required by the school as well as by applicable state laws.
- Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and promotes positive and appropriate relationships.
- Consistently implements the school-wide student management policies within the classroom and throughout the campus.
- Promotes positive parent-school-community relations through effective communication.
- Actively participates in the school’s Professional Development Plan, faculty meetings, PLCs, school committees and events.
Education and Experience - Hold minimally a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Preferred Licensure: A valid Illinois Professional Education License (PEL) with Spanish Endorsement.
- Previous experience in teaching high school Spanish is preferred.
