Berwyn North School District 98 is located in Berwyn, Illinois. The district has three elementary schools and one middle school and serves more than 2,500 students in Pre-K through 8th grade. Title: Parent Patroller (Part-Time)
Classification: Support Staff
Primary Function:
The Parent Patrol Program aims to provide a positive, secure, and safe environment for students as they travel to and from school, during dismissal, and potentially during recess. Parent Patrollers are trained in relationship-building skills, de-escalation strategies, and safety protocols.
Accountability: School Building Administrators
Training:
- All Parent Patrollers must attend mandatory training before they begin working. The District will provide additional, ongoing support throughout the school year.
- All Parent Patrollers will receive a vest and walkie-talkie.
Qualifications: - Minimum age requirement: 18 years
- Fluency in Spanish, preferred
- Must be able to work specific hours in the morning and afternoon
- Ability to report to work on time, consistently

- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to communicate effectively; strong reading, writing, and speaking skills in both English and Spanish

Playground Monitor Duties - Oversees outside play and activities
- Monitors student behavior to ensure a safe play environment
- Direct movement of students entering and exiting the school building
- Encourages a harmonious atmosphere; encourages peaceful resolution of conflicts
- Provides feedback of student discipline observations to the school building administrators
- Records incidents in writing to school-building administrators
- Discourages children from behaving unsafely school grounds
Other - Comply with district policies, as well as state and federal laws and regulations
- Ability to work outdoors with exposure to inclement weather
- Ability to work within a team environment
- Ability to walk and/or stand for extended periods

Salary: $22 per hour
Daily Hours:
- Up to 5 hours per day, Monday - Friday (excluding holidays, school breaks, and summer)
