  •   Description: Student Support Service-Social Worker

    Job Summary: Ability to demonstrate knowledge and application of Social Emotional Learning Standards
    • Evaluate the social, emotional, behavioral and health needs of students

    • Identify, create and implement social work IEP goals and services

    • Provide individual and group social work services

    • Conduct functional behavioral analysis

    • Assist in the development and monitoring of behavioral intervention plans

    • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of effective behavioral intervention strategies

    • Serve as Internal Coach for PBIS

    • Respond to crisis and provide intervention when necessary

    • Serve as a liaison between school, families and community resources

    • Ability to evaluate building needs and develop responsive programs

    • Other duties assigned by administration

    • Participates as a member of the multi-disciplinary team by conducting school social work components as part of the evaluation process. 

    •  Serves as a consultant to school personnel for student educational and/or behavioral interventions in order to assist in the development of a constructive learning environment so that optimum learning may occur. 

    •  Provide direct services and/or interventions as designated on the student’s IEP. 

    •  Works cooperatively with administrators and staff, parents, students and community agencies. 

    •  Promoting regular school attendance.  

    •  Providing individual counseling and facilitating group sessions. 

    •  Working with students on self-esteem and anger management. 

    •  Providing crisis intervention services. 

    •  Serving as liaison between school/family/community. 

    •  Referring students and parents to appropriate community services. 

    •  Assisting families with the interpretation of school policies and procedures. 

    •  Understand and practice in accordance with local, state, and federal laws, statutes, and policies that relate to students and families. 

    •  Maintain materials and accurate case records and documentation. 

    •  Other duties assigned by school administration. 

     

    Qualifications: Master's Degree in Social Work

     

                           A valid Illinois Teaching Certification

     

                           Type 73 School Service Personnel Certificate

     

                           Endorsement: School Social Worker
