- Creates an experiential learning environment centered on technologies and entry-level computer skill building activities that is alignment with the D51 Learning Model. Employee actively collaborates with Teachers, Building Leaders, and Special Service Providers to provide introductory technology instruction. Daily activities of this position are varied and often contain elements of coaching students on both the physical and mental aspects of technology usage. Lessons are adaptable for individual needs and often contribute to a theme, project or lesson plan within the student’s home classroom.

- Coaching students in daily lessons to build physical skills sets the employee helps students to gain mastery regarding the correct posture, hand-eye coordination, manual dexterity and visual tracking needed to be successful learning with technology. In addition, the Para works with students on understanding a wide variety of software programs, processes, and procedures including log-ons, password protections, appropriate exploration, researching and sourcing data. This position has some administrative duties regarding technology in their school including but not limited to; overseeing the student Responsible Use Agreements (RUA), internet account accessibility, and maintaining the physical inventory reports of all computer equipment assigned to the school.

- Oversees the development and implementation of grade level cyber safety lessons for students. Students receive lessons on being responsible for and protecting their activities in the cyber environment. The Technology Paraprofessional provides lessons and sets expectations for students on protecting their cyber privacy, recognizing a stranger on-line, how to hike around the internet safely, social media and other sharing appropriately lessons, introductory ethics around not copying without crediting sources, and on-line anti-bullying. As technology is dynamic and ever evolving, the Technology Paraprofessional is expected to maintain a general awareness of current technology developments and as appropriate adapts lessons and instruction accordingly.

- Troubleshoots problems with computers, software, printing malfunctions, installation, integrations, and system maintenance for their assigned classroom/building as needed. As available this employee provides a level of support to other staff with classroom/building technology issues to improve the learning environment for students. In many cases the Technology Para is a primary point of contact regarding computer technology in the building and there is an expectation for a high level of customer service and professional interactions to facilitate these interactions.

- Supporting the needs of the assigned school the Technology Paraprofessional may also be assigned before and/or after school bus stop monitoring duties, lunch-room monitoring and/or recess duties as well. Paraprofessional may also participate in special site projects outside of the classroom as new systems and software are adopted toward the D51 Learning Model. Note: The actual duties of this position may vary based on the current building assignment.
