    Position:          Assistant Auditorium Technical Director for Events

     

    Department:    Student Activities

     

    Supervisor:      Auditorium Manager

     

    Job Summary: Designing and supporting school programs

     

    Pay:                   ? of Level 5 Stipend (per season: Fall, Winter, Spring). Hours vary based on performance schedule. Required to attend all perfomances.

     

    Asst. Auditorium Technician Responsibilities

     
    • Provide technical support for 20 performances as well as other school events as needed.

    • Oversee Student Workers during events and ensure they are properly trained on all tools/equipment

    • Communicate with Event Organizers to coordinate needs and oversee the set-up of tables, chairs, lecterns, projectors, etc. 

    • Work with guest Sound Designer and Music Directors on sound needs, backline and instrument rentals, acquisition, setup and maintenance

    • Install necessary equipment and cabling for all shows/events, including: playback, mixers, amps, microphones, monitors; video cameras (recording/live streams); lighting equipment

    • Create all show-related paperwork needed for the event

    • Program and operate sound and lighting consoles as needed

    • Assist with Box Office needs for events that require ushers and the scanning of tickets

     

    Safety

     
    • Emphasize safety practices and procedures for all persons in the theater spaces (audience, performers, and technical crews), including issues of fire safety, overcrowding, and materials and tools usage)

     

    REQUIREMENTS:

     
    • Professional Technical Theatre experience or equivalent

    • Advanced skills in Sound Design, mixing and engineering, including creation and acquisition of sound and music effects; experience setting up, engineering and maintaining wireless mic systems; proficiency mixing musicals using digital consoles required. Familiarity with Qlab preferred.

    • Advanced skills in technical theater such as: creating/reading technical drawings, operating shop equipment/tools, operating theatrical lighting systems and fixtures, maintaining and repairing intercom and backstage video systems
