QUALIFICATIONS:
Must hold proper certification issued through Professional Teaching Standards Board or licensure through professional organization (Wyoming Board of Occupational Therapy).
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
The Occupational Therapist shall, under normal circumstances, be employed by the Board no later than April 15. Contract terms shall be as per adopted certified salary schedule and as per adopted benefit package.
REPORTS TO: School Principal and Special Education Director
JOB GOAL: To provide occupational therapy services including administration of standardized evaluations, deliver evidenced-based interventions, and produce written documentation as outlined in a student's IEP or 504 plan in CCSD#2 in accordance with state and federal rules and regulations.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Assess a student's occupations to include physical, sensory, regulation, and executive functioning skills and their participation in roles and routines based on their unique set of circumstances. A
2. Assists with the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans. This includes administrative tasks such as: daily data record keeping on interventions, evaluation report writing, inputting data into IEP eligibility determination, IEP documents, and reporting quarterly progress on IEP goals for each student.
3. Provides training and demonstration of specific therapy techniques to support personnel including training and installation of necessary equipment.
4. Assists in in-service training activities as appropriate, and consults with administrators and classroom teachers.
5. Evaluates referred multi-handicapped students to include the development of appropriate treatment interventions and direct application of therapy to referred students. Review and report student progress and to modify treatment plans accordingly based on data.
6. Collaborates with all stakeholders for consultation, training, and as a resource for tiered interventions.
7. Develops prescriptions for the application of therapy strategies by support personnel and a diverse educational community including administrators, teachers, parents and guardians.
8. Maintains equipment associated with occupational therapy activities.
9. Actively participates in and contributes to a creative and positive work environment.
10. Supervises multi-handicapped students and schedules, and support staff implementing occupational therapy activity.
11. Directly responsible for the safety, well-being and work output of students receiving occupational therapy.
12. Such other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
1. Regularly required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear. Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms, and occasionally use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
2. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.
3. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts in a moderate noise level.
4. Frequently exposed to infection at a greater risk than the average person.
5. Requires driving skills and ability to drive at night.
