ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assists the kitchen manager to implement the food service program in accord with federal, state, and district food service standards and procedures.
Effectively work with and respond to people from diverse cultures or backgrounds.
Receives and accurately accounts for cash.
Supervises students outside the classroom, as assigned, to support the district's discipline and instructional programs.
Provides standard first aid, as defined by the American Red Cross, in a competent and compassionate manner.
Provides other related services as assigned.

GENERAL PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:

Perform duties in a courteous and efficient manner that builds the confidence of staff, students, and the public in the Corvallis School District and enhances learning.

Basic knowledge of institutional food preparation techniques, including ability to operate institutional food preparation equipment.

Hold a current food handler's card.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The usual hazards associated with cooking equipment, such as hot stoves, steam cookers, and cutting devices continually are present. Work also involves exposure to cold while in the kitchen freezer and cooler.
The employee regularly lifts a variety of items ranging up to 40 pounds in weight, and frequently pushes items ranging up to 100 pounds. With assistance occasional lifting of 50 pounds and occasional climbing on a stool or ladder is also required. The employee must be able to stand for prolonged periods.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manages a master schedule, using independent judgment in a manner consistent with administrative direction, district policies and goals of the instructional program.
Effectively work with and respond to people from diverse cultures or backgrounds.
Within administrative guidelines and in accordance with graduation, CIM, CAM, PASS and OSAA requirements, evaluates student records and transcripts and places students appropriately within the instruction program, as assigned.
Represents administrators, as assigned, in communications with staff, parents, and students to facilitate issue resolution, provide accurate information, and support effective program management.
Performs difficult and responsible types of duties assigned that require a higher level of technical knowledge.
Maintains student records through use of the computer system, including but not limited to grades, credits, transcripts, schedules enrollment information, basic student information, withdrawal and dropout data.
Develops the master schedule, including computer input of forecast data, changes, final schedules and interpretation.
Trains staff members as needed, on the use of the registration program, policies and procedures.
Interprets policy and procedures, within district guidelines, for staff, students, parents, and others, in a timely and accurate manner.
Supervises students outside the classroom, as assigned, to support the district’s discipline and instructional programs.
Exercises independent judgment to resolve issues and respond to requests for assistance related to building/program.
Provides other related services as assigned.

Retirement Contribution: Corvallis School District participates in the Oregon Public Employee Retirement System (PERS and OPSRP) on behalf of its employees. Upon eligibility, the district contributes 6% of an employee’s salary to their Individual Account Program (IAP). Eligibility is defined as working at least six full calendar months in a qualifying position. Part-time employees working at least six months and 600 hours in a calendar year will qualify.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Meets the standards of Competent and Ethical Performance as outlined in Oregon Administrative Rules (OAR 584-020-000 to 584-020-045). The following are examples of principle duties; however, any one position may not cover all duties listed and examples may not cover all duties an employee is expected to perform.

Model and teach respect with an awareness of diversity.
Effectively work with and respond to people from diverse cultures or backgrounds.
Establish clear objectives and create long- and short-range plans for instruction to meet the language needs of students in the areas of speaking, listening, reading and writing the English language.
Develop and carry out clear, organized, sequential lessons and learning activities suitable for students’ English proficiency levels and aligned with Oregon English Proficiency standards.
Vary and pace classroom strategies to accommodate different learning styles; actively involve students and maximize student engagement in meaningful learning.
Administer various tests to determine students’ level of English fluency in the areas of reading, writing, speaking and listening.
Diagnose the instructional needs of all ELL students and devise appropriate learning activities for each student.
Use current body of knowledge in cultural diversity issues in teaching and curriculum development to design and adapt individual/group academic and behavior/social programs in all school settings.
Assess students and provide feedback to students, classroom teacher, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations and goals.
Train and coordinate the work of instructional assistants in providing an effective school program and addressing the needs of individual students.
Support classroom teachers by providing materials, resources, accommodation/inclusion ideas, consultation and other appropriate support.
Work as part of the school team to fully implement Response to Intervention (RTI).
Work effectively and collaboratively with diverse student, staff and community populations.
Work collaboratively with other school personnel in meeting diverse social and academic needs of students.
Establish and maintain open lines of communication with all students and with parents/guardians concerning both academic and English language development progress.
Assist school staff and administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student conduct, reinforce individual school’s plan for positive behavior support, develop reasonable rules for classroom behavior and utilize effective, proactive behavior management skills in all school settings.
Maintain accurate, complete and confidential records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
Provide thorough and timely reports, data and information as requested.
Provide methods to support and/or reinforce classroom goals in home environment and serve as home/school liaison.
Utilize technology as related to job responsibilities.
Train and act as lead worker for Educational Assistants.
Reflect upon own teaching performance and accept and utilize supervisory suggestions and feedback.
Take primary responsibility for pursuing and evaluating own professional growth.
Attend and participate in staff meetings and district inservice meetings.
Participate in activities that are related to school functions and/or the education process that occur outside the regular workday, in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement.
Perform other duties as assigned.

GENERAL PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:

Perform duties in a courteous and efficient manner that builds the confidence of staff, students and the public in the Corvallis School District and enhances learning.
Maintain regular attendance at work and work activities, and is punctual in meeting deadlines, attending meetings, and following schedule.
Observe laws, district policies and procedures, and professional standards for this position.
Work effectively and collaboratively with diverse student, parent and community populations
Carry out work responsibilities with strong organizational skills, effectively under pressure of deadlines, difficult situations, interruptions, and new or emergency conditions.
Respect confidential information and the privacy of students, staff and parents.
Support students and staff in the district’s career related learning standards to encourage the development of independent work skills through career exploration and community involvement.
Collect, record, store, retrieve, assimilate, organize and utilize information and records electronically and by using traditional methods.
Develop job skills necessary to meet changes in the position.
Maintain personal appearance and hygiene appropriate to the position as defined by the district.
Meet applicable district physical ability/health and safety guidelines for the position.

Valid Oregon teacher’s license with ESOL/ELL endorsement and appropriate grade level authorization. Must be highly qualified or able to become highly qualified in area assigned according to NCLB laws.
Understanding of human growth and development patterns, learning theory and brain research.
Familiarity with a variety of age appropriate instructional, assessment and behavior management strategies that reflect current research on best practices.
Familiarity with Oregon English Proficiency standards.
Effective oral and written communication skills in English.
Knowledge of state and federal education laws and of student and staff rights.
Ability to exhibit professionalism and effective human relations.
Ability to effectively manage and supervise students and their work.
Ability to direct the work of other staff members.
Ability to travel among district facilities as needed, if driving, the ability to meet district driving standards.
Standard First Aid certification, or the ability to obtain certification within two months of hire, may be required.

Frequent or prolonged standing, walking and sitting.
Crouching to work with younger students.
Possibly moderate to high noise level.
Frequent and prolonged talking/listening in conversations/meetings.
Requires accurate perceiving of sound, near and far vision, depth perception.
Requires handling and working with variety of materials and objects.
Work may occasionally involve lifting/carrying objects weighing 15-25 pounds.
Possible exposure to bodily fluids due to student injury or illness.
Possible exposure to bodily harm due to student behaviors.
Exposure to a variety of chemicals comprising instructional supplies and materials.

This position is primarily performed indoors in school buildings, although some outdoor instruction and supervision are required.
This position involves working in close proximity to groups of children and adults.
Evening and/or extended work hours may be required.
This position may require traveling to multiple work sites.
