    REPORTS TO:                              Principal
    TERM OF EMPLOYMENT:          10-month Employee
    SALARY:                                      Hourly Pay (Minimum $15/hour and based on experience)
    FLSA EXEMPT/NON-EXEMPT:   Not Exempt
     
    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:         
    • Education (must have one of the following):   **Must upload a college transcript or exam score reports for one of the following requirements when applying.**
      • Associate degree or higher with an overall 2.5 or higher GPA from an accredited institution; OR
      • 48 semester hours which include core courses with an overall 2.5 or higher GPA from an accredited institution; OR
      • College Entrance Exams Testing Score Report with the following scores:
        • Applied Math - passing
        • Reading - passing
        • Writing - passing
        • In addition to passing the exams, employee must agree to complete 2 college courses in math, reading or technology per year for the first two school years of employment at their own expense and have a 2.5 or higher GPA from an accredited institution.
    • Must be at least 19 years of age to work with PK-8 students and 21 years of age to work with 9-12 students.
    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
    • Assist and support the teacher with planning, organizing, and evaluating instruction, and implementing instructional program as directed by the teacher, including collecting data on IEP goals and behavior plans.
    • Assists the teacher insuring a safe and healthful environment.
    • Assists students with understanding of school and classroom rules and regulations as directed by the teacher.
    • Assists students in maintaining cleanliness and neatness.
    • Interacts effectively with students, teachers, administrators, co-workers, parents and community.
    • Assist students with social emotional and behavioral needs.
    • Assist in the supervision of students on campus as well as in the classroom.
    • Escort students to areas of the building and/or campus.
    • Accompany students to classes outside their normal setting.
    • Assist new students in adjusting to their new environment.
    • Assist students with personal care as needed.
    • Work with students in groups and/or individually as directed by the teacher.
    • Grade, record and distribute papers as directed.  
    • Assist and monitor testing of students.
    • Distribute textbooks, devices, and other materials at the direction of the teacher.
    • Operate equipment for videos, movies and other media used by the teacher.
    • Assist with class/student projects.
    • Assist with the distribution of report cards and other reports to parents.
    • Model and maintain high ethical standards.
    • Conducts self as a role model, exhibiting positive behavior.
    • Demonstrate initiative in the performance of assigned responsibilities.
    • Provide a safe and secure workplace.
    • Follow attendance, punctuality, and proper dress rules.
    • Maintain confidentiality regarding school matters.
    • Maintain positive relationships with staff, parents and students.
    • Participate in workshops and training sessions as required.
    • Keep supervisor informed of potential problems or unusual events.
    • Respond to inquiries or concerns in a timely manner.
    • Prepare all required reports and maintain all appropriate records.
    • Follow all School Board policies, rules and regulations.
    • Exhibit interpersonal skills to work as an effective team member.
    • Demonstrate support for the School District and its goals and priorities.
    • Perform other incidental tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Administration.
    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
    • Knowledge of child growth and development.
    • Some understanding of various exceptionalities.
    • Possess good organizational skills.
    • Ability to prioritize functions and manage time wisely.
    • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
    Physical Requirements:  Medium Work
    • Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force as needed to move objects.
    • Lifting students for personal care needs.
    EvaluationPerformance of this job will be evaluated at least once per school year
