Position Description: Assistant Teacher 0-3
Reports to: Site Director
Status: Exempt
POSITION OBJECTIVE
Assist teacher to determine the needs and provide for the development of children ages 0-3.  Work to create a safe environment for children.  Implement and maintain all components regarding children ages 0-3, based on HS, State Pre-K, Child Care and state and local requirements
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Strong alignment with Christopher House’s Values and Mission;  
• Strong work ethic coupled with a proactive problem-solving approach;
• Two years of experience working in a zero to three year old classroom, preferably in a Head Start or governmentally funded child care program;
• Bi-lingual skills in English/Spanish is desirable
 
Education: 
• Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development with a minimum of six semester or nine quarter hours in courses related directly to child care and/or child development, from birth to age six

Position Description: Master Teacher - Floater
Reports to: Site Director
Status: Non Exempt
 
POSITION OBJECTIVE
 
The Master Teacher Floater will determine needs and provide for the development of preschool children, will act as a role model for Teaching staff and work to create a safe environment for children.  This staff member will implement and maintain all components regarding preschool children, based on federal Head Start, State Pre-K and state and local requirements.  This position requires the individual to move between classrooms and act as head teacher wherever necessary based on staff absences and shortages.
 


 
 
Responsibilities:  
 
Programs
• Provide technical assistance, advisement, support and role modeling to members of the Preschool teaching staff in curriculum and developmental issues
• Maintain knowledge in the field in order to develop professional skills
• Ensures the safety of the children in a healthy environment and serves as a positive role model
• Assist in the development of curriculum used in the preschool classrooms and obtain appropriate educational materials for classroom use
• Coordinates monthly teacher meetings to ensure on-going cooperation among staff and to ensure that individual teachers are working towards a unified approach to preschooler’s development; maintain a strong classroom presence
• Ensure compliance with all curriculum related to funding and licensing requirements pertaining to Pre K. 
• Plans and develops lesson plans with team on a weekly basis on cc.net and posts in classroom
• Provides a copy each week to the Site Director, Associate Director of Early Childhood
• Conduct classroom observations monthly
• Ensure that parent-teacher conferences and home visits are conducted twice a year and assist teachers in both preparation and conducting these conferences, as needed
• Ensures ECDS program is in compliance with HS, State Pre-K and Child Care contractual mandates as it relates to child assessment
Human Resources
• Participate in recruitment of teaching staff for Pre K Program as needed
• Conducts quarterly classroom assessments for assistant teachers using the CLASS tool and ECERs or ITERs tools and provides feedback and support on finding
• Actively participate in the performance management process for the Pre K classroom
• Maintains current knowledge of federal, state and local labor regulations and understand the implications for Human Resources Managemen
Professional Development
• Participate with other ECDS program managers to ensure N.A.E.Y.C. and QRS Accreditation
• Participate in the Christopher House training programs offered.  Participate in the bi-annual ECDS staff in-service
• Mentor coach for CPS sub-contracting, attending outside meetings and trainings as required by funders
• Attend other trainings as required of position. 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Accreditation
• Assists Program Director, ECDS and Site Director, in the ongoing process of assuring the highest quality programming and best practices as well as NAEYC and QRS Accreditations and re-accreditation processes as occurs at each appropriate sites 
Quality Assurance
• Seek to understand the 40 Developmental Assets approach and role model asset-building behavior when interacting with participants, employees, and other stakeholders
• Actively seek to align programs with best practices or standards for high quality
• Ensure on time and accurate collection of data using organization’s database and/or funder databases
• Analyze data with team members to determine how to explain information related to findings and improvement strategies
• Report findings to supervisor; make recommendations for improving quality of services and/or department’s outcomes system; ensure successful implementation department strategie 
Non-Classified Responsibilities
• Respond to agency and stakeholder needs by performing assigned tasks, which do not fall within the above description
• If such tasks are not of a temporary nature, they should be added to the position’s designated responsibilities.
Qualifications:
• Three to five years of direct experience working with 0-5 year olds, preferably in a Head Start and governmentally funded child care program
• Bilingual skills in a variety of languages are a plus. 
Education:
• Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development Required
• PEL in Early Childhood preferred

Education:
 
• High School Diploma or GED Degree
This is a temporary position.  Candidates must be willing to work a minimum of 20 hours a week and form a consistent schedule, agreed upon with their supervisor.  Substitute teachers do not qualify for benefits or vacation accruals .

Position Description: Family Advocate Location: Uptown
Reports to: ECYD Family Engagement Manager Status: Non- Exempt
Relationships with: Site Director, Eligibility Coordinators, Teachers, School Nurse, and other school staff.
 

Specific Responsibilities:
• Support families and caregivers as they navigate their children’s educational journey.
• Ensure families participating in the ECDS program receive integrated, timely, appropriate, and comprehensive services based on individual family assessments and parent/advocate relationships.
• Provide continuous updates and communication to families
• Provide services that are culturally sensitive in a respectful manner, always ensuring client confidentiality.
• Assist in the planning and implementation of a successful recruitment action plan to achieve site’s full enrollment.
• Plan, facilitate and participate in community events to promote Christopher House’s programs and services.
• Maintain health records, complete required paperwork. Communicate requirements to parents; ensure all health and dental records are obtained in a timely manner.
• Complete Family Assessments, Family Partnership Agreements, Holiday Program applications, referrals for services, etc.
• Provide case management services to families including assistance and referrals, i.e. emergency services, health/nutrition/dental referrals, etc.
• Collaborate with families in accessing community services that meet their needs, circumstances and interests including following up with parents to assure that services are received.
• Maintain accurate records, including multiple databases as well as paper files (databases include Salesforce ECM and CSD CARES), as required by funding agencies and maintain compliance with funder’s requirements.
Qualifications:
