Position Summary |
The goal for the IT Durham Tech Intern position is to provide additional necessary centralized and on-site technical support for the many IT related projects that occur during the course of a school year including supporting student and staff devices, responding to help ticket and calls and assisting with additional device and network needs. All work will be in accordance with district standards and at the direction of the central ITD support. |
Essential Duties |
Works with other IT technicians to troubleshoot and repair computer equipment, peripherals, software applications, network connections and classroom presentation equipment at assigned locations. Follows established procedures for processing IT support requests, documents in-progress and completed work, and closes support tickets within established Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Assists with inventory. Assists with delivery and pickup of IT equipment to be repaired at approved sites (as needed). Assists with setting up computer and AV equipment for special programs and meetings (as needed). Assists with the installation of hardware and software products, including peripherals – casting devices, printers, document cameras, and TVs, etc. – and network connections for Internet and email access. Participates in small and large scale hardware and software upgrades, including computer components, operating system upgrades, software drivers, etc. Assists with processing surplus equipment at assigned locations. Performs related duties as assigned by supervisor Maintains compliance with all company policies and procedures Independently drive between school district sites in a personal vehicle with mileage reimbursement |
Education/Experience Requirements |
Current student at Durham Technical Community College High School diploma required Previous experience and/or general knowledge working with Microsoft Windows, Mac OS, iPad OS and Google computing environments. Ability to communicate with users to determine the nature of problems. Self initiative in being part of a team and assisting technical staff. Such alternative qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. Valid North Carolina Drivers license |
Physical Requirements |
Must be able to physically perform the basic operational functions of stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, hearing and repetitive motion. Ability to lift a minimum of 20 pounds. Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards. Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards |
