DESCRIPTION: | This position works with the site and district administration to assist the CTE pathway programs to develop and implement action plans for program growth and refinement. This position provides instructional coaching to ensure both rigor and engagement in academy CTE courses, supports academy coordinators in the development of robust advisory boards, site-based enterprises and site-based internships, certification programs and/or post-secondary credit bearing options, career awareness, and development of partnerships and associations with public and private entities that support combining strong academics, demanding technical education, and real world experiences for high school students. Summer hours may be available to assist with summer professional learning, new hire orientation, and preparations for the upcoming school year. |
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S): | - Possess a valid Clear California Teaching Credential
- Three years full-time teaching experience within CVUHSD
- Permanent status

CTE PATHWAY SPECIALIST
JOB DESCRIPTION
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The CTE Pathway Specialist is a grant-funded position, funded by the Career Technical Education Incentive Grant (CTEIG). The CTE Pathway Specialist will develop a collaborative working relationship with the Educational Services staff, site academy teams, site administration, the other Linked Learning and Hub of Excellence Consortium districts, other CTEIG grantees, the school district community as a whole, and our post-secondary partners. This position will assist schools as they develop CTE pathway programs that comply with the “11 Elements of a High-Quality CTE Program” AND ensure students are college and career ready by graduation. This position will work with the site and district administration to assess the CTE pathway programs and develop action plans for program growth and refinement. This position will provide instructional coaching to ensure both rigor and engagement in academy CTE courses, support academy coordinators in the development of robust advisory boards, after school program curricula, certification programs and/or post-secondary credit bearing options, career awareness, and development of partnerships and associations with public and private entities that support combining strong academics, demanding technical education, and real world experiences for high school students. In addition, this position will assist Educational Services in presenting programs and authoring grant proposals.

420 minutes, exclusive of 35 minutes for a duty-free lunch (daily schedule to be determined by supervisor)
Flex hours by up to 7 hours per month to accommodate after-school, evening, and weekend events (additional flex hours may be scheduled by mutual agreement)

CORE DUTIES:
Support the Career Technical Education Incentive Grant programs:
Understand the CTEIG objectives and requirements
Provide support to ensure that grant outcomes are implemented and goals are met
Collect data from CTE programs and collaborate with Director to compile annual report(s) to the state and CVUHSD board of education
Quality Curriculum & Instruction
Procurement of Industry current tools.
Support CTE teachers in updating their course outlines and curriculum to align with state-adopted CTE standards and Common Core College and Career Anchor Standards.
Provide CTE Pathway Teacher Coaching through workshops, ongoing and year-round collaboration events, and professional development on relevant topics, including:
Lesson Planning, including Integrated lessons, Project Based Lessons, and Connecting WBL with CTE content
Demonstration lessons on how to incorporate CTE and core content coursework (integrated/PBL) and Connecting WBL with CTE content
CTE and core content teachers collaborating on integrated units
Classroom management
Engaging Special Populations, including Special Education, English Learner, Foster/Homeless, and other targeted populations
Engage Advisory Board in offering industry-relevant input on the "program of study", pathway map, and individual pathway/classroom projects.
Collaborate with Site and District Administration to identify aligned courses and engage post-secondary partners in developing articulation and/or dual enrollment agreements.
Career Exploration
Provide ongoing support for pathway site-specific WBL (professional development, goal setting, field trips, guest speakers, internships, data tracking of opportunities, liability coverage for internships, communicating with other staff (counselors, admin) about the opportunities with which students are engaged).
Integrating the industry certifications with the CTE classroom instruction.
Student Support
Support CTSO implementation.
Provide pathway teachers with materials and support for annual 4-year and 10-year planning. Collaborate with academy leadership and site staff to identify and engage students in WBL opportunities.
Support the development and facilitate the distribution and use of comprehensive pathway maps that include a sequential "program of study" and a comprehensive student intervention and incentive program, including:

Other (as identified by academy needs assessment and/or student data)
System Alignment
Coordinate and facilitate meetings with HS faculty and non-ECC faculty; Assist with paperwork and follow-up
Assist with Academy Logistics: researching vendors, ordering equipment, procuring necessary documentation, budget support, track orders, submit budget transfers, etc.
Communicate frequently with CTE teachers, site administration, and district administration.
Collaborate across district to provide overlapping support towards program certifications (Linked Learning certification).
Provide tech support to pathways on uploading evidence.
Provide support for academies to reach Linked Learning Certification Status.

In collaboration with Pathway Connections Specialist and Academy Leadership... Recruit more and strengthen existing connections with industry.
In collaboration with the Linked Pathway Connections Specialist and Academy Leadership... Help the academy to form/run effective Advisory Board Meetings.
Support with implementing processes and procedures for the Site-Based Enterprises and other Internship opportunities.
After School/Extended Day Opportunities
Help academies to develop fully functioning Site Based Enterprises, Pathway Clubs, and/or Internship models: create business plan, ongoing updating and documentation of logistics in the CVUHSD WBL Manual and market program.
Assist with purchase of needed equipment and assist with doing any extra-duty paperwork.
Industry Certification/Employment
Collaborate with the Pathway Connections Specialist and Academy Coordinator to develop a "Certificate of Completion" for students completing the full sequence of courses in an academy pathway.
Research relevant industry certifications and collaborate with the Academy Leadership on how to integrate them into the pathway map/curriculum.
Skilled Faculty
Assist eligible teachers to complete paperwork necessary to obtain a CTE credential. Identify relevant conferences and assist teachers with the paperwork to attend.
Assist with recruiting for open positions. CTE Pathway Teacher Coaching.
Collaborate with districtwide CTE team, District, and Site Administration to plan and implement professional development opportunities:
