Position Purpose:
The job of Speech-Language Pathology Assistant is done for the purpose/s of supporting the Speech-Language Pathologist; assisting students with communication disabilities; and implementing appropriate treatment assigned by the Speech-Language Pathologist.

Essential Job Functions:
 
• Assists the Speech-Language Pathologist (e.g. assessment area set-up, data entry, etc.) for the purpose of providing necessary support for students with speech and language pathologies.
• Coordinates meetings and processes for eligible students (e.g. testing/screening, parent conferences, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the smooth operation of the unit.
• Inputs information (e.g. student records, progress reports, assessment results, etc.) for the purpose of providing information and ensuring that treatment/intervention plans are appropriate.
• Instructs assigned students in the use of appropriate communication technologies (e.g. hearing aids, FM systems, augmentative communication devices, etc.) for the purpose of minimizing the adverse educational impact of communication disorders in accordance with established guidelines and legal requirements.
• Maintains documents, files, and records (e.g. progress reports, activity logs, billing information, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of information as required for reference and compliance.
• Prepares written materials (e.g. activity logs, reports, required documentation, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and conveying information.
• Provides assistance to students for the purpose of ensuring IEP treatment plans are implemented.
• Responds to inquiries (e.g. parents, teachers, staff, students, etc.) for the purpose of providing information and special education referral as appropriate.
• Transports supplies and equipment to a variety of sites as needed for the purpose of ensuring the availability of items.
 
Certificate/Licensure: Wyoming Board of Speech Pathology & Audiology - Speech-Language Pathology Assistant Certificate

Experience: 
 
• Experience working in a school setting is preferred
• Strong organizational and communicative skills are a must
• Needs to be able to collaboratively with a diverse team of professionals
