Supervisor of Special Education
 
Working from one of our Family Service Centers, located in Pennsylvania, the Supervisor of Special Education serves as an educational leader and assists other school leadership in the planning, coordination, and directing of activities and programs related to the administration of one or more grade levels/schools. The Supervisor of Special Education works with teachers, administrators, parents/guardians and related service staff to ensure that students with IEPs are receiving an appropriate and effective educational program in the least restrictive environment. The Supervisor of Special Education works as part of the general education and special education teams to assist in delivering the best educational program for students.
Supervisors of Special Education support the teaching staff in fostering evidence-based, inclusive instructional practices through the lens of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support and universal design for learning to meet the needs of all students. The Supervisor of Special Education will lead teachers as they provide daily instruction and support to learners. The Supervisor of Special Education will use various technologies and in-person visits to support teaching and learning and family engagement.  The Supervisor of Special Education consults regularly with learners and families, ensuring that each child successfully completes their instructional program. 
The Supervisor must be knowledgeable of effective instructional practices in special education as well as special education laws and regulations. The Supervisor of Special Education will work with teachers and parents to provide special education in the least restrictive environment.   The Supervisor will provide leadership and support to special education teachers in their specific program or grade band.   The Supervisor will work closely with families to reduce and resolve any conflict or disputes. 
This individual will operate in compliance with all state and federal laws and regulations and school policies and guidelines and ensure that all staff working with learners are being held to that standard.  This position reports to a Principal.

Responsibilities:
• Monitor incoming and current student paperwork to ensure compliance with special education processes and timelines.
• Coordinate the set-up and delivery of IEP-mandated direct services to students, whether through direct in-house teacher support or contracted services with qualified agencies.
• Oversee the development, tracking, dissemination and proper implementation of IEP-mandated accommodations for students with special needs during state testing.
• Guide the development, tracking and proper implementation of ESY annually.
• Build collaborative working relationships with parents to partner in the delivery of special education services to students.
• Implement standardized processes, forms, and protocols for all special education procedures.
• Execute procedures for placement, evaluation, assignment, and re-evaluation of students with regard to the special education services programming.
• Serve as Local Education Agency (LEA) representative in IEP meetings
• Explore and recommend innovative ways of educating and supporting students with special education needs in a virtual environment.
• Contribute to the development of innovative instructional programs, helping teachers pilot such efforts when appropriate.
• Build and promote positive culture and capacity amongst designated teams
• Lead professional learning initiatives for all staff relative to school goals and acts as a model/exemplar by engaging in own professional learning and growth
• Drive initiatives in line with school improvement objectives and in collaboration with the School Improvement Team
• Provide leadership to the professional staff in determining objectives and identifying school needs as the basis for developing long and short-range plans for the school.
• Conduct high quality classroom observations and teacher evaluations pursuant to CCA and PDE-approved guidelines.
• Proactively conduct regular learner outreach, including digital communication and home visits
• Participates in and attends meetings and hearings related to compulsory attendance, student safety, and children and youth services requirements
• Support and participate in out-of-classroom student experiences including field trips, clubs, school-sponsored activities and other opportunities
• Demonstrate a visible commitment to ongoing growth in self and others and participating in district and site professional growth programs.
• Communicate with students with mutual respect while implementing CCA’s positive and effective discipline policy.
• Implement with fidelity all federal, state, and school legal requirements, policies, procedures, and guidelines, including those specific to special education earners, EL learners, and learners with disabilities.
• Engage in learner recruitment efforts including in-state trips, presentations, Q & A sessions, and the media.
• Participate in the recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of new teachers and/or staff
• Implement all Board policies as directed by the President/CEO, Executive Vice Presidents, and/or other Senior Administrators.

Job Description/SUMMARY
 
This position is responsible for providing first level instructional assistance and support related to Cooperative Education (Co-Op). Seniors in the current graduating class and, in Spring, second-semester Juniors are eligible for Co-Op. The Career Ladder Co-Op Instructor will support these CCA learners and operate as the primary co-teacher. This instructor is an internal CCA faculty member responsible for ensuring all Co-Op records are aligned to PA Department of Education regulations. Additionally, this professional will collaborate regularly with the Career Readiness Department to provide appropriate updates. This professional acts as a liaison between CCA learners, industry employers, and the learner’s CCA circle.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
 
1. Supply Co-Op documentation forms to learners and support completion of the forms.
 
2. Ensure forms are uploaded properly for tracking and follow-up with the CCA circle, learners, and families to ensure all forms are turned in.
 
3. Maintain the most detailed records possible in tracking sheets, data, grades, edio, and PowerSchool relative Co-Op documentation, grades, credits, and credit types, under the direction of the Senior Vice President.
 
4. Under the direction of the Senior Vice President, collaborate with School Counselors in advising students relating to dropping courses and changing schedules based upon CCA’s Career Readiness participation.
 
5. Adhere to the highest standards of professionalism and confidentiality with regard to Co-Op documents and contracts, as well as student records.

The High School Department Lead is responsible for providing leadership and support to their respective academic department. Secondary ESL Teacher
Position Description
Working from one of our Family Service Centers in Pennsylvania, the ESL Teacher will manage virtual instructional programs for students with limited English proficiency. Through use of a Learning Management System, telephone, Internet, and various curriculum tools, the ESL Teacher will consult regularly with content teachers, learning coaches, and students to ensure that each child successfully completes his/her instructional program. The ESL Teacher will administer ESL screening and yearly ESL tests in addition to meeting the requirements of all CCA teachers which include field trips, marketing events, and Great Starts sessions.  He/she will work closely with other teachers and district professionals to ensure that the ESL program is successful and operating in compliance with federal and state regulations.
In order to be successful in any role at CCA, employee must carry out all responsibilities in such a way that demonstrates and models the values of CCA, abides by all standards and behaves in a professional and engaged manner at all times. 
 
The ESL teacher will be responsible for the completion of the following tasks:
• Develop and deliver instruction and assessments which focus on development of English Language proficiency in the areas of reading, writing, and academic language;
• Grade assignments and assessments in a timely manner consistent with CCA policy;
• Communicate effectively and in a timely manner with English and non-English speaking parents to make sure their students’ needs are being met;

Working from a CCA Family Service Center located in Pennsylvania, the 504 Coordinator is primarily responsible for providing support to learners who qualify pursuant to section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.  This individual will be involved in all aspects of the development of 504 Service Agreements and management of services and supports provided. Through use of the telephone, Internet, and various curriculum tools they will consult regularly with CCA staff, caretakers, learning coaches, and learners. The 504 Coordinator will facilitate evaluation/eligibility determinations, develop 504 Service Agreements, and monitor the implementation of 504 Service Agreements. The individual will work closely with other teachers and CCA staff, agencies, and other professionals to ensure the implementation of Section 504 procedures in CCA in compliance with federal and state regulations.

Position Purpose

Position Summary: 
Working from one of our Family Service Centers located in Pennsylvania, the position of Secondary Special Education Math Teacher at Commonwealth Charter Academy (CCA) is responsible for providing, managing, and delivering special designed instructional programs through a virtual platform for learners. The Secondary Special Education Math Teacher is responsible for teaching a daily math class using a modified curriculum designed to meet the unique needs of learners and providing direct instruction and support to learners in areas of need as defined by the IEP. Working from one of our Family Service Centers in Pennsylvania, the Special Education Teacher utilizes the proprietary relationship management system in conjunction with other technology resources (web conference tools, telephone, internet, and various curriculum tools and applications) to provide instruction, feedback, and support while consulting regularly with learners, caretakers, learning coaches, and others to ensure that each learner successfully receives all supports and services in their Individual Education Program (IEP).  They will work closely with other teachers and school staff to ensure that the school’s special education program is successful and operates in compliance with federal and state regulations.

• Gather data, develop specially designed instruction, write goals, and guide the full implementation of IEPs. Maintain routines for scheduling progress monitoring sessions with learners and tracking learner data for communicating measurable growth toward goal attainment to families. 
 
• Schedule, organize, and conduct IEP-related meetings in a virtual environment. 
 
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date data in the school’s learning management system and special education software.  
 
• Ensure the organization and proper implementation of all paperwork, documentation, and procedures for the IEP process in compliance with all regulations. 
 
• Communicate continuously with caretakers/learning coaches of learners to ensure that all services in the IEP are being delivered 
 
• Collaborate with related service providers on a weekly basis for learners needing related services as mandated by their IEPs. 
 
• Commit to fully understanding learners’ interests, unique disability profiles, and prior educational experiences, to build relationships & promote consistent engagement in school routines. 
 
• Drive learner achievement and set high expectations for all learners.

Working from one of our Family Service Centers in Pennsylvania, the position of Special Education Teacher at Commonwealth Charter Academy (CCA) is responsible for providing, managing, and delivering special designed instructional programs through a virtual platform for learners. • Ensure the organization and proper implementation of all paperwork, documentation, and procedures for the IEP process in compliance with all regulations.

• Collaborate with related service providers on a weekly basis for learners needing related services as mandated by their IEPs.
• Commit to fully understanding learners’ interests, unique disability profiles, and prior educational experiences, to build relationships & promote consistent engagement in school routines.
• Drive learner achievement and set high expectations for all learners.
• Collaborate with teachers and coordinate the implementation of specially designed instruction as defined in the IEP regarding learners with specific needs and potential learning challenges.

Working form one of our Family Service Centers, located in Pennsylvania, the CCA Special Education Teacher on Assignment (TOA) will “virtually” manage instructional programs in the absence of the classroom teacher. As a CCA TOA, the employee will be hired as a full-time, permanent staff member. He or she will fill needs within our K-12 school on either daily or several day/week placements. • Work collaboratively with other teachers to ensure that all students are successfully progressing through the summer challenge.
• Communicate regularly with learners and caretakers through use of computer and telephone (Return phone calls and webmails within 48 hours).  
• Keep student data and overall reports up-to-date.
• Other duties as assigned.
 
Requirements: 
• Teacher must possess a PA Teaching Certification in the appropriate content area.
• Teacher must be proficient on current year evaluation. No overall needs improvement.
• Teacher must commit to 100% attendance with no scheduled vacations during the 5-week time period. (Emergency situations will be honored after discussion with administrator).
• Teacher will work from 8 AM-12 PM Monday through Thursday.
• Work Hours:  It is expected that i-Ready Summer Academy tasks can be completed in approximately 16 hours per week (i.e. average of 4 hours per day M-Th), including (two) 30-minute blocks of live instruction M-Th (live instruction in this case is teacher led).  Live instruction and office hours will be offered in the morning, between the hours of 8-12.

Special Education Administrative Assistant

Position Summary:
Working from one of our Family Service Centers located in Pennsylvania, the Special Education Administrative Assistant is responsible for completing tasks to fulfill the special education process timelines under Federal and State (IDEA and Chapter 711) Regulations. This includes daily compliance tasks in support of students receiving special education services from the special education department such as responding to state special education process timelines to include: scheduling IEP meetings, coordinating Psychoeducational evaluations, (IEP, evaluations, and Related Services), coordinating Related Services and evaluations, collaborating with special education staff regarding the special education process for students,  answering phones and email, filing special education documents, auditing files, and ensuring students’ special education documents are obtained from the prior Learning Education Agency and other duties as assigned by special education administration.

The Special Education Administrative Assistant will be responsible for the following tasks:
• Entering special education process timeline data into the online student information system
• Producing reports from edio (our Learning Management System) and special education software to support compliance maintenance
• Creating and maintaining Excel spreadsheets to monitor compliance of special education documents
• Working closely with Special Education teachers, Special Education Administration and other Special Education Administrative Assistants to complete assigned projects
• Scheduling special education evaluation and IEP meetings with Caretakers/Learning Coaches, staff and Related Services’ providers
• Providing invitations to IEP Meetings through Outlook and edio and/or carrier or postal services
• Processing newly enrolled students’ documents; Answering the phones to address CCA families and potential families’ needs
• Maintaining and auditing electronic files for special education documents
• Coordinating and managing Related Service referrals and services
• Reading, forwarding and replying to incoming mail, e-mail, and web mails from CCA families, staff, school psychologists and related services’ providers
• Additional duties as assigned by special education administration

Work Environment

This is largely a sedentary role. Requires the ability to lift, squat, sit, bend or stand as necessary.  Ability to travel to other sites/locations as needed.
