QUALIFICATIONS:
 
• Preferred five years of experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience) in the area of payroll, benefits, and leave functions in an organization with operational scope and diversity comparable to or larger than Camden County Schools
• Preferred credentials include a Bachelor’s degree
• Ability to multi-task and to meet deadlines
• Use office machines and equipment in an efficient and productive manner including experience with Microsoft Word and Excel
• Interacts positively with staff and the community
• Demonstrates initiative and possesses effective verbal and written communication
• Maintain required confidentiality and professionalism regarding employee and school system affairs

SECURITY CLEARANCE:  House Bill 1187 mandates that all certificated individuals new
to the school system, after July 1, 1994, submit to fingerprinting and a criminal record check.

PRIMARY PURPOSE/FUNCTION
• To assist in ensuring that all payroll/leave management functions for the school system are administered efficiently, effectively and accurately.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Prints payroll checks, direct deposit vouchers, payroll reports and registers.
• Enters, edits and posts void payroll checks.
• Enters payroll changes on all existing employees.
• Establishes and maintains employee payroll files.
• Establishes and maintains employee files for garnishments, levies, bankruptcies, and child support recovery.
• Calculates, enters, edits and posts general exceptions to payroll including payments for stipends, after- school programs, school food service, field trips, and extended hours.
• Prints and verifies payroll proof.
• Calculates and enters salary adjustments for prorated pay.
• Transmits direct deposits and deduction wire transfers by required deadlines.
• Prepares payroll checks for distribution.
• Updates employee earnings history.
• Transmits federal, state tax and Teacher Retirement payments electronically.
• Updates leave accruals and provides assistance to time and attendance users.
• Prepares and transmits monthly retirement reports (TRS and PSERS).
• Prepares monthly reports and mails checks for voluntary employee benefits, dues, garnishments, levies, bankruptcies, and child support recoveries.
• Prepares Employer’s Quarterly Federal Tax Return (Form 941) and (G7) quarterly report of state taxes.
• Prepares Employer’s Quarterly Tax and Wage Report (Form DOL- 4) for unemployment taxes plus the multiple worksite report (Form DOL-4A).
• Prints, proofs, verifies, and edits W-2 information on an annual basis and transmits W2 files.
• Prints, proofs, verifies, and edits ACA forms for employees.
• Communicates with all employees concerning payroll questions.
• Processes withdrawals to TRS and/or PSER for non-active employees.
• Maintains and updates tax tables and bank codes.
• Provides support and information to appropriate external agencies, including the Georgia Department of Audits.
• Creates and distributes payroll calendar.
• Completes employee verifications for financial institutions.
• Attends various meetings and workshops as assigned to keep abreast of current issues in education related to payroll.
• Maintains required confidentiality.
• Adheres to all safety requirements.
• Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
 
 
PAYROLL SKILLS
• Ability to effectively use systems, processes and procedures in high volume payroll systems. Ability to process payroll transactions accurately while meeting constant deadlines.
 
 
• Ability to document payroll procedures and processes as required.
• Ability to maintain standards for check processing in a public education environment.
• Ability to understand and follow federal and state tax and retirement laws and regulations.
 
COMPUTER SKILLS
• Ability to effectively utilize computer spreadsheet, database, and accounting applications in a Windows environment.

Thank you for your interest in becoming a substitute teacher for Camden County Schools.  The following is a list of requirements that must be met in order to be added to the substitute teacher list.
 
-Current, updated Substitute Teacher Application
 
-Two Letters of Recommendation - uploaded to the application (a signed letter, written/typed in their own words on why they recommend you to be substitute teacher)  The recommendation letter must be signed.  
 
-Official Transcripts  - (from your highest level education) If the educational institution has the ability to email official transcripts, they can be emailed to lcrabtree@camden.k12.ga.us (the first letter of the email is an L, not a 1) OR they can mail the official transcript to Lisa Crabtree 311 S. East St. Kingsland, GA 31548.  If you have a sealed, un-opened copy in your possession, you may bring it with you to the training. 
 
Upon completion and submission of your application, you will be enrolled in one of the following substitute teacher trainings.  The training are held at the Camden County Schools Administrative Office.  311 S. East Street Kingsland, GA 31548

If you currently hold a valid GA teaching certificate or GA certificate of eligibility, you are exempt from the 4 hour training session.
 
After successful completion of the substitute teacher training you will be provided with additional instructions/requirements.
