Position Summary:
To provide appropriate instructional assistance and support for students, based on lessons developed and provided by the classroom teacher.
Essential Tasks and Responsibilities:
Observe, monitor and assist students in the classroom, according to approved procedures
Assist with classroom behavioral management to minimize disruptions
Ensure a safe and orderly classroom, and ensure students are on task
Supervise students in classroom, and consistently administer rules regarding student behavior
Assist students in completing classroom assignments, homework, and projects
Assure student understanding of classroom rules and procedures
Assist students by answering questions, providing proper examples, emotional support, friendly attitude, and general guidance
Confer with teacher concerning lesson plans and materials to meet student needs
Keep accurate records of student attendance and behavior, including any tardiness, and submit to the administration in a timely manner
Assist with the preparation, monitoring, and following of Individualized Education Plans for selected students assigned to the class
Support and implement high standards and expectations for all students
Work with students individually and in small groups to reinforce basic learning, while implementing assigned lessons and programs
Assist in classroom preparations and strategies for reinforcing instructional materials and skills, according to individual student needs
Assist with record-keeping procedures to document student learning and performance
Construct, copy, distribute, and use educational materials as needed
Follow all applicable safety rules, procedures and regulations governing the proper manner of assistance for all students
Adhere to all policies of the district
Perform other related tasks as assigned by the building administrator and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent

Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form
Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals
Ability to process paperwork accurately according to standardized procedures
Ability to maintain confidentiality of information regarding students, employees and others
Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form
Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work
Qualifications:
Must have 60 college hours -
OR
- successfully have passed the Paraprofessional Exam
Successful completion of all background checks
Contract:
180 days
Salary:
Classified Paraprofessional Salary Schedule - Level II
