• Provide instruction to students with severe behavior disabilities.
• Work with and supervise classroom paraprofessionals when providing instruction.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree from accredited university
• Valid Texas teaching certificate
• Special Education Certification Required: Special Education EC-12
Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement individualized educa­tion plans (IEPs) that meet the unique needs of each student.
2. Collaborate with other teachers, parents, and stakeholders to maximize student learning.
3. Employ specialized instructional strategies and techniques during instruction to improve the development of sensory- and perceptual­motor skills, language, cognition, and memory.
4. Teach socially acceptable behavior, employing techniques such as behavior modification and positive reinforcement.
5. Prepare students for transition to the next grade level.
6. Maintain accurate and complete student records, and prepare reports on children and activities, as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations.
7. Create an inclusive classroom environment that is safe and conducive to learning.

Position Purpose
Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in reading or math to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical and social growth.  Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function succesfully in society.


Essential Functions
• Develops and administers grades 4-8 curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives and the students' IEP.
• Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.
• Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction
• Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs; conducts individual and small group instruction.
• Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research.
• Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.

• Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiates instruction based upon student learning styles.
• Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans.
• Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.

• Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
• Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.

Qualifications Profile
• TX State Certification as a Junior High Teacher:   Core Subjects 4-8, Generalist  4-8, 
• Special Education Certification Required:  Special Education EC-12
Education
• Bachelors from an accredited college or university
Experience
• Successful prior teaching experience is a plus.
