Job Description:                         
Candidate will provide leadership for the girl's high school basketball program. Coach is responsible for instruction, supervision, and management of the entire program. This includes clear communication with coaches, players and parents.
 
Qualifications:                             
The ideal candidate will have:
• Varsity level experience as a head or assistant coach at the high school or collegiate level;
• Knowledge of technique, training methods and strategies to enhance an already competitive basketball program;
• Ability to create or support an in-season/off-season program for participants that is developed for the athletes to promote growth physically, mentally and emotionally;
• Skills to coach in a manner that models positive behavior consistent with the expectations we have for our student athletes.

The ideal candidate will have prior coaching experience at the high school or collegiate level. Candidate should possess knowledge of technique, training methods and strategy for competitive football and the ability to work in a positive coaching manner with high school athletes modeling positive character and responsible behavior.

POSITION SUMMARY:  

Develop the student's fullest acquisition of knowledge, skills, concepts, and attitudes.   Assist eligible students in acquiring language skills and developing literacy skills that will help them benefit from the curriculum. Serve as a bridge between schools and families to ensure successful and appropriate education for all culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse students. The ELL Teacher/Cultural Liaison will facilitate communication between schools and families in order to increase family access and engagement, as well as support staff in building an understanding of intercultural competence and employing strategies that help ensure educational equity district-wide. The ELL Teacher/Cultural Liaison will act as and advocate for the educational equity of under-represented students and families.

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Assess students for the need to receive English Language Learner (ELL) services
2. Connect with the families of ELL students
3. Collaborate with classroom teachers for the benefit of ELL students
4. Develop instructional methods and program models for serving English learners
5. Support English Language Learners in mainstream and content area classrooms
6. Evaluate student progress; monitor the comprehension of ELL students
7. Assist in administering appropriate state-wide assessments to ELL students
8. Determine test accommodations for individual ELL students as needed
9. Organize subject area instruction
10. Design and implement assessments for ELL students that matches their developing comprehension
11. Instruct students individually and in groups, using various teaching methods.  Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests.
12. Observe and evaluate students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
13. Create a positive environment to ensure successful learning for all students.
14. Meet with parents and guardians to discuss their children's progress, and to determine their priorities for their children’s social, emotional and academic growth. 
15. Confer with parents or guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators in order to resolve students' behavioral and academic concerns.
16. Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations.
17. Guide and counsel students with adjustment and/or academic problems or special academic interests.
18. Meet with other professionals to discuss individual students' needs and progress.
19. Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops in order to maintain and improve professional competence.
20. Other duties as assigned.
SECONDARY JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Interacts with students and families to enhance and support the students’ education experience and ensure success.
2. Encourages and empowers minority students and their families to participate in educational activities and programs.
3. Facilitates and improves communication between the school, students and families.
4. Provides conflict resolution when needed, included but not limited to:  absenteeism, tardiness, difficulty with school work, behavior issues, multicultural awareness, discrimination and social issues.
5. Participates in and assists with development of programs to provide diversity training and awareness for students and staff.
6. Provide individual and group instruction/support to assist student functioning in the academic setting. These students may be considered high-risk, early intervention or disabled.
7. Assists with enrollments of new students.
 
JOB SPECIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, LICENSE, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES):
Required:
1. K-12 English as a Second Language Minnesota Teaching License.
2. Effective oral and written expression.
3. Demonstrated collaboration and relationship building skills.
4. Strong communication skills verbally, orally and written.
5. Prompt, regular and reliable attendance.
6. Ability to perform routine computer functions, including the use of email and Microsoft Word.
