Job Summary

1. Provides instructional services in adapted curriculum to students.
    
2. Accompanies certified staff on home visits.
    
3. Develop and implement class programs that include activities based on the student’s goals. Monitors student work, collects data and maintain records in accordance with student’s goals and objectives as directed by certificated staff.
    
4. Assists certificated staff with classroom management.
    
5. Follows writing and oral instructions, and independently follows through on certificated staff directed programing/strategies.
    
6. Assists with supervising a student, or group of students during the lunch and recess periods, both indoors and outside.
    
7. Maintains classroom materials, prepares documentation as directed by certificated staff.
    
8. Maintains student and teacher files to include student attendance.
    
9. Monitors students on the school grounds.
    
10. Supports students during bus travel to and from school.

Job Summary
School librarians instill a love of learning in all students, ensuring that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information and have equitable access to information. Librarians empower students to be critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of information, and collaborate with classroom teachers and specialists to design and implement lessons and units of instruction, and assess student learning and instructional effectiveness. The school librarian provides the leadership and expertise necessary to ensure that the school library program is aligned with the mission, goals, and objectives of the school and the school district, and is an integral component of the learning/instructional program. The position reports to and is evaluated by the site principal.
 
This position requires a valid Alaska educator certificate. The number of work days is based upon the AEA negotiated pay scale. Information on the pay scale can be found online on our Labor Relations Department website. This position’s grade level, content area taught, and work site may change dependent upon student enrollment and district staffing needs. Positions that are 0.50 FTE to 1.0 FTE are associated with the Alaska Teachers’ Retirement System (TRS), positions that are 0.40 to 0.49 FTE are associated with the Alaska Employees’ Retirement System (PERS).
