    Primary Purpose:

    To provide security and protection for students, staff and visitors and prevent property loss due to theft or vandalism.

    Qualifications:
    Education/Requirements:
    • High School Diploma or GED
    • Meet all Texas Education Agency Requirements for Security Guard 
    • Valid driver’s license
    • Recommended applicant must pass State's fingerprinting/background check requirements

    Special Knowledge/Skills:
    • Ability to record and report information clearly and accurately
    • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
    • Ability to work effectively with students, parents, and staff
    • Ability to communicate effectively (verbally/written)

    Experience:
    Experience in security, customer relations, law enforcement (preferred)

    Major Responsibilities and Duties:

    Student Management/Security/Parking
    1. Monitor assigned campus.
    2. Monitor student behavior and enforce school/district rules related to student conduct, vehicle operation, and/or parking.
    3. Monitor conflict or confrontation between students and report disturbances to principal or assistant principal.
    4. Control traffic and parking on campus grounds during school hours and at after-hours events.
    5. Conducts inspections of campus doors, windows, and gates to determine they are secure.
    6. Monitor school buildings and grounds to prevent theft, vandalism, and illegal entry.
    7. Work cooperatively with office personnel to inform students of problems with vehicles (i.e., improperly parked, lights on, etc.)
    8. Assist law enforcement personnel as needed.
    9. Assist in safety drills
    10. Participates in CPR, Stop the Bleed, CPI, and other trainings. 
    11. Serves as part of the campus behavioral threat assessment team.
    12. Notify the police, fire department, or other appropriate authority of any situation requiring immediate attention.
    13. Give directions or act as a guide to authorized visitors.
    14. Performs any other duties as assigned.
     
    Supervisory Responsibilities:
    None


    Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
    • Tools/Equipment Used: Two-way radio, alarm system and other security equipment, fire extinguisher, and standard office equipment including computer and peripherals.
    • Posture: Prolonged sitting and standing.
    • Motion: Strenuous walking, occasional keyboarding and use of a computer.
    • Lifting: Moderate lifting and carrying (15–50 pounds).
    • Environment: Work inside and outside (moderate exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather); moderate exposure to noise and vehicle exhaust.
    • Other: Specific hearing and visual requirements; may be subject to adverse and hazardous working conditions, including violent and armed confrontations; ability to control sudden violent or extreme physical acts of others and exhibit rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously.
    • Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress.

    Terms of Employment:
    Primary Location: Anthony Elementary School
    Auxiliary Pay Plan/Pay Grade 3
    Starting Hourly Rate: $17.11

    Shift Type: Full-Time
    Term of Employment: Temporary Position (Remainder of the 2024-2025 School Year)
