Substitute Teacher
Job Description: The Andover Central School District is seeking qualified candidates for per diem substitute teaching placements for the 2024-2025 school year. Interviews will occur based on application submission. In this role, you will follow the curriculum as provided by the principal or the absent teacher, assign homework and oversee attendance. You will also provide guidelines to students, and keep track of their progress to report back to the teacher. Ultimately, you will help us run our classes smoothly and promote effective learning and development.
Responsabilities:
- Follow the curriculum and lesson plan as provided by the absent teacher or the principal.
- Apply various teaching techniques (including interactive methods and game-based activities) to encourage participation and facilitate learning.
- Assign classwork and homework.
- Take attendance according to school policy.
- Keep track of students’ progress and write down information that’ll be useful to the regular teacher.
- Report any incidents regarding students’ behavior in and out of the classroom.
- Maintain a tidy and safe class environment for students.
- Ensure the safety of all children in the classroom.
Requirements: - Experience working with children.
- Some knowledge and understanding of learning techniques and teaching methods.
- Excellent communication and writing skills.
- The ability to remain patient and approachable while also maintaining an orderly classroom.
- Great organizational skills.
Perfered Skills: - Accociate's or Bachelor's in Education (preferred).
- Previous experience as a part-time or full-time Teacher.
Pay Rates:
The daily per diem rate of pay for substitutes is based on level of certification (see below for details)
Certified - $130.00 / Full Day
Bachelors Degree - $112.00 / Full Day
All Others - $105.00 / Full Day
