        Substitute Food Service/Cafeteria Monitor
        
        Job Overview:
        The Substitute Food Service/Cafeteria Monitor is responsible for assisting with
        food service operations and ensuring a safe and orderly environment in the
        school cafeteria. This position involves supporting the cafeteria staff in various
        tasks, monitoring student behavior, and enforcing school rules and procedures
        during meal times. The Substitute Monitor may be required to fill in for regular
        cafeteria staff on short notice or as needed.
        
        Responsibilities:
        - Meal Preparation Support: Assist cafeteria staff with preparing and
        serving meals, including portioning food items, assembling trays, and operating
        food service equipment.
        - Meal Distribution: Help students select meals and beverages, collect
        payment or meal cards, and ensure accurate distribution of food items.
        - Cafeteria Setup/Cleanup: Set up tables, chairs, and serving stations
        before meal times, and assist with cleaning and sanitizing cafeteria areas after
        meals.
        - Monitoring: Supervise students during meal times to ensure orderly
        conduct, compliance with cafeteria rules, and adherence to appropriate behavior
        standards.
        - Safety Compliance: Enforce safety and sanitation procedures, including
        proper food handling, storage, and disposal, as well as adherence to allergy and
        dietary restrictions.
        - Conflict Resolution: Intervene in conflicts or disturbances among
        students, calmly and effectively managing behavior and promoting a positive
        dining atmosphere.
        - Emergency Procedures: Follow established protocols for responding to
        emergencies or incidents in the cafeteria, including medical emergencies, spills,
        or equipment malfunctions.
        
        Qualifications:
        - High School Diploma or equivalent: Basic educational requirement.
        - Food service experience: Previous experience in food preparation,
        service, or hospitality preferred.
        - Communication skills: Effective verbal communication skills to convey
        information clearly and resolve conflicts diplomatically.
        - Attention to detail: Ability to follow instructions, accurately handle
        transactions, and maintain cleanliness and organization in the cafeteria.
        - Ability to work in a fast-paced environment: Capacity to work efficiently
        and multitask during busy meal times.
        - Flexibility: Willingness to work variable hours and adapt to changes in
        cafeteria schedules or procedures.
        - Physical stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift and carry trays
        or supplies, and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity.
        - Reliability: Dependability and punctuality are essential for this role, as
        substitutes may be called upon with short notice.
        
        Working Conditions:
        • The Substitute Food Service/Cafeteria Monitor will primarily work during
        school hours, including breakfast and lunch periods.
        • The job may involve exposure to kitchen equipment, food odors, and
        cleaning chemicals, requiring the use of appropriate personal protective
        equipment (PPE).
        • The position may require standing, walking, bending, and lifting throughout
        the shift, as well as interaction with students and staff in a crowded environment.
