  •   TITLE: MIDDLE SCHOOL GIFTED INTERVENTION SPECIALIST

    POSITION GOAL: The Gifted Intervention Specialist will design and deliver an enriched and
    extended English Language Arts (ELA) curriculum for middle school students identified as gifted. This role includes providing differentiated instruction tailored to the academic and social-emotional needs of gifted learners, while also collaborating with staff to support data-driven decision-making as part of the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) process.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    � Bachelor's Degree or higher
    � Ohio Teaching License � Ohio Gifted Education Endorsement
    � Experience in gifted education, advanced ELA instruction, or differentiation preferred
    � Strong knowledge of literary analysis, writing instruction, and social-emotional development of gifted learners
    � Ability to analyze student data and provide instructional recommendations
    � Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills

    REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent and/or Building Principal(s)

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Contract days, evaluation, and salary as per Negotiated Agreement

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Instruction & Curriculum Development
    ? Provide an enriched and extended ELA experience that challenges gifted learners in breadth, depth, and pace.
    ? Guide students in analyzing various literary genres, focusing on theme, style, character, and tone through advanced discussions and activities such as Socratic seminars and project-based learning.
    ? Develop students' writing skills through the production of original writing pieces, presentations, and projects.
    ? Incorporate enrichment, extensions, and enhancements to the curriculum beyond grade-level standards.
    ? Utilize instructional strategies that support the social-emotional and intellectual needs of gifted learners.
    ? Differentiate instruction to ensure all students reach their highest potential. ? Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs, including students with special needs; conducts individual and small group instruction as needed.

    Collaboration & Support
    ? Work collaboratively with ELA teachers to align curriculum and instructional strategies.
    ? Participate in the MTSS process by giving input, reviewing student data, identifying intervention needs, and providing instructional support to teachers.
    ? Assist in analyzing assessment data to inform instruction and support student progress.
    ? Serve as a resource to teachers regarding best practices for gifted learners.
    Professional Development & Compliance
    ? Stay current on gifted education research and best practices through ongoing professional development.
    ? Maintain compliance with state and district gifted education policies and reporting requirements.
    ? Communicate with families regarding student progress, programming, and gifted services.
    Work Environment & Expectations:
    ? Work in a middle school setting with gifted learners
    ? Maintain high expectations for academic rigor and student engagement.
    ? Provide a supportive and responsive learning environment that meets the needs of diverse learners.
    ? Collaborate with school leadership, teachers, and support staff to foster a culture of excellence for gifted students.
