Under the direction of the Director of Community Education, the Experiential Learning Coordinator is responsible for planning, implementing, budgeting, and supervising the programs and staff assigned to the Experiential and After School Enrichment program. The Experiential Learning Coordinator is responsible for setting a high standard of excellence in regards to the development, leadership, and management of programming and ensuring that high quality programs are safe and meaningful for its students, staff, and the community.
Position Description:
Approximately 20- 25 hrs/week
The Coordinator’s salary will be determined based on qualifications and experience
Plans, develops, instructs, and coordinates district-wide programs for experiential learning for people of all ages. Evaluates and assesses program functions, activities, accomplishments, and needs in relations to program goals and objectives. Determines and implements changes in programs, procedures, or operations to improve the effectiveness of Experiential Learning programs and enrollment. 35%
- Selects, trains, makes job assignments, monitors staff activities, and initiates staff development trainings and provides mentoring/mentee opportunities. 20%
- Plans for and determines funding for Experiential Learning Program from various state, district, fee/tuition, grants, or entitlements. Determines program needs and plans and recommends a budget for Experiential Learning. Writes grants proposals and/or additional funding sources to secure additional monies to meet the needs of program activities and functions. Monitors and administers program budgets and expenditures and oversees the preparation of all required state, district, federal, or grant reporting and recordkeeping requirements. 10%
- Promotes, markets, and enters into agreements for service with local groups and organizations, to includes such tasks as: 10%
- Prepares and writes articles, brochures, flyers, ads, or news releases
- Speaks before community groups or outside organizations to promotes and inform the public concerning district experiential programs
- Oversee program registration, enrollment, activities, and procedures.
- Initiates and maintains contact with area environmental groups and other supporters of programming.
- In coordination with Operations staff, process deposits, invoice clients, verify timesheets. 10%
- Ensures maintenance of gear and safety equipment occurs regularly and as needed. 5%
- Ensures environmental and community stewardship of course areas and activity sites. 5%
- Create vision, goals, and strategic direction for Experiential Learning Program. 5%
- Other like duties.
Qualifications:
- Type of degree: A.A.
- Major field of study or degree emphasis: Experiential, recreation, education, environment, leadership
- Essential knowledge and specialized subject knowledge required to perform the essential functions of the job:
Leadership, experiential education/experience, outdoor activities, management - Excellent Communication Skills related to Group/Class Presentations, Collaborating with other Staff Members, Creation of written materials, and Relationship building/maintenance with groups and organizations.
