2025-2026 School Year Teaching Opening:
Nondalton School Special Education Teacher
Position: This is a Special Education position, meaning you will be overseeing a caseload, and working with general education teachers to meet student goals. Experience in elementary levels is beneficial. This position requires flexibility in working in classrooms, as well as working one-on-one with students. Nondalton School currently has an enrollment of 21 students, K-12.
Reports to: Itinerant Principal and SPED Director
Salary: Appropriate Placement on Teacher’s Salary Scale

QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
Possess teaching certificate or willing to pursue a teaching certificate.
Familiar with a Standard-Based System.
Knowledge and experience with RTI/MTSS preferable.
Experience in a cross cultural setting is highly desirable.
Strong interpersonal skills including collegiality and collaboration.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Be part of a team that plans a program of instruction for students with disabilities using a variety of methodology including direct instruction, co-teaching, and consultative models
Assume duties such as testing, IEP writing, collecting and interpreting data, maintaining case files and records
Provide instruction that meets students’ individual needs, abilities and interest as determined by tests, records and observations.
Effectively provide program direction to paraprofessionals
Create individual student and paraprofessional schedules
Work with students that experience cognitive disabilities and behavioral challenges
Develop students’ academic, social, adaptive, and pre-vocational skills
Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active, standards-based learning.
Assess student progress and proficiency and adjust instruction accordingly.
Use relevant technology to support and differentiate online instruction.
Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.
Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies. Provide appropriate feedback on work.
Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development using PowerSchool.
Participate in district professional development.
Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress, needs and concerns.
Able to create strong partnerships with parents and guardians to improve student learning.
Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
SALARY:
Accepting all AK teaching experience, and up to six years out of state experience, for initial placement. Starting at $51,259 (BA+0yrs) to $86,408 (BA72/MA36+13yrs).

SCHOOL YEAR: LPSD operates under a “Subsistence Calendar” in which students receive 150 days of instruction, and the teacher obligation is 172 days, one of the shortest in the nation. Teachers start in late August, and are done in early May!
